Atomos Releases Shinobi 7 RX Touchscreen HDR Monitor Receiver

Atomos continues to embrace wireless video functionality with the new Shinobi 7 RX, a 7” HDR touchscreen monitor receiver with camera control, 5G Wi-Fi, HDMI, 3G-SDI, and a peak brightness of 2200 nits. The Shinobi 7 RX can receive low-latency wireless video feeds from the Atomos TX-RX wireless video system or an RTSP H.264 stream, making it especially useful as a director’s or focus puller’s monitor.

The Shinobi 7 RX has all the functionality you’d expect from Atomos—camera control for many modern mirrorless cameras via USB-C, 3D LUT support, waveforms, histograms, vectorscopes, focus peaking, false color, frame guides, anamorphic desqueeze, and more. The monitor can even interface with Touch to Focus systems on select cameras.

The HDMI port will accept signals up to 4K60p, while the SDI maxes out at 60p HD. The SDI can also accept 8-channel, 24-bit audio. The back of the monitor has dual NPF battery slots, but it can also be powered via USB-C PD. The Shinobi 7 RX weights only 1.28 lb without batteries, and measures 7.80” x 5.24” x 1.54”.

As far as receiver functionality goes, Atomos promises minimal latency (<60ms) from up to 984' away when the Shinobi 7 RX is used in tandem with an Atomos transmitter, so the monitor will prove particularly useful for those looking to build out a robust wireless ecosystem. You can also calibrate the monitor via a Calibrite Display Pro or Display Plus with the Atomos LANC cable.
