Denon has announced the latest addition to their home speaker ecosystem with the new Denon Home 200, 400, and 600 Wireless Smart Speakers. With multiple class-D amplifiers powering each driver in all models, the Denon Home series promises to deliver rich and detailed stereo sound and can support immersive object-based playback via Dolby Atmos Music.
Because they’re all powered by HEOS, all Denon speakers can be mixed and matched to create an expandable ecosystem. With multiple HEOS-powered Denon speakers, you can play a different song in every room, set the vibes for the whole home, or even pair two together to create a wider stereo soundstage for armchair hi-fi listening. You can even build a wireless 5.1 surround sound setup by connecting any the Denon Home Wireless speakers to a Denon Home Sound Bar 550 and a Denon Home Sub to use as rear L/Rs.
All models come in two colors and can connect to smartphones, portable media players, and other audio sources via aux input, are compatible with Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, and USB, and can stream in high resolution over Wi-Fi from services including TIDAL, Qobuz, and Amazon music. And if you’re into Direct Stream Digital format, the Denon Home series can play 2.8/5.6 MHz DSD lossless audio via USB or NAS connected devices.
So, what are the differences between the three models? Here’s the rundown:
Driver Arrays: Each model has individual class-D amplifiers for each driver and is capable of stereo sound:
-
The Denon Home 200 has three drivers: dual stereo wide-bandwidth tweeters and a 4” woofer
-
The Denon Home 400 has six drivers: dual wide-range tweeters, 4.5” woofers, and 1” upfiring height speakers
-
The Denon Home 600 has eight drivers: dual tweeters, 2.5” midrange woofers, 2.6” upfiring height speakers, and 6.5” subs
Dolby Atmos: All are capable of immersive 3D sound via Dolby Atmos
-
The Denon Home 200 uses psychoacoustic processing to simulate height—the effect is convincing but is less localized than the other models
-
The Denon Home 400 uses dual upfiring height speakers to shoot a beam of sound to your ceiling—the acoustic reflection imitates an installed ceiling speaker
-
The Denon Home 600 uses the same design as the 400 but with larger drivers that deliver a wider frequency spectrum
Size and Weight
-
Denon Home 200: small, ~5 lb
-
Denon Home 400: medium, ~10 lb
-
Denon Home 600: large, ~18 lb
