The Ares line of binoculars from Athlon gives users the performance discerning users require, at an exceptional value. To deliver peak performance, they are outfitted with extra-low dispersion (ED) glass, broadband anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics, dielectric coated and phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms, and protective exterior lens coatings that work together to maximize light transmission through the entire light path without distortion or color fringing. The results are bright, sharp, and clear high-contrast views with accurate color fidelity and crisp resolution across the entire visual spectrum, even in challenging conditions such as at dawn and dusk or when peering into dense underbrush or thick canopies. To further improve the observational experience, the Ares are designed with wide apparent angles of view that present a spacious field of view and an immersive observational experience.
Athlon built the Ares to make it easy and comfortable to hold and allow it to withstand the harshest elements. Its overall open-bridge/dual-hinge design provides more gripping surface area than conventional closed-bridge configurations without sacrificing strength and stability. The optical tubes are argon-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging if the weather takes a turn or they take an accidental spill in a stream or puddle. Protecting the optical components is a magnesium-alloy chassis that is strong and durable, yet extremely lightweight. Rubber armoring with textured palm pads provides a sure and secure grip. Athlon includes objective lens caps and a one-piece ocular rain guard to protect the exterior lens surfaces and to prevent water, rain, and snow from filling up the eyecups when the binocular is hanging around your neck. To keep the caps and rain guard safe when the binocular is in use, they are tethered to the body and strap, respectively. For those who experience fatigue when holding large optics for long periods, the Argos can be tripod mounted using an optional adapter for easy hands-free use.
