In this first installment of our two-part series on digiscoping with Swarovski scopes, Larry Becker, of Kelby Media, explains how DSLR and point-and-shoot cameras can be used with Swarovski spotting scopes to capture images that would otherwise require extremely long telephoto lenses. This is the setup that he used to digiscope with his Nikon D7100: A Swarovski ATX 95mm objective lens, a straight eyepiece that generated 30-70x magnification for that lens, and a 30mm TLS APO adapter to fit the scope to the camera. With all those pieces, the equivalent focal-length range was1350mm to 3150mm.
Besides the amazing optics of the Swarovski scope, Becker also discusses the type of support you need to use such an unconventional setup, the various objective lens and eyepiece options available from Swarovski and, of course, he shows off some really impressive wildlife shots he was able to capture with the Nikon D7100 and his Swarovski scope.
