Pentax has announced the latest addition to its next-generation Star series prime lens family—the HD PENTAX-D FA* 85mm f/1.4 ED SDM AW. Designed for use with all full-frame and APS-C format, Pentax K-mount cameras, Pentax’s latest flagship prime lens features a maximum aperture of f/1.4 and a nine-bladed diaphragm, making this lens ideal for selectively focused portraiture with bokeh-enhanced background and foreground detail.

Pentax's latest high-speed short-telephoto portrait lens contains 12 elements in 10 groups. This includes three super extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements and a glass-molded aspheric element to compensate for spherical and chromatic aberrations while correcting field curvature.

The multi-layered high-definition (HD) lens coating used on Pentax HD series lenses reduces flare and ghosting while cutting reflectance in the visible spectrum about 50% more efficiently than conventional lens coatings. Even when used at maximum aperture, Pentax’s new HD series 85mm lens is designed to deliver optimal, corner-to-corner resolution and image quality.

Other features found on the new lens include Super Protect (SP) coating to protect against dust and smudges; a solid, all-weather-resistant (AW) construction; Pentax’s exclusive Quick-Shift Focus System (QFS/M); a large supersonic direct-drive motor (SDM) to drive focusing; 82mm filter threads; and a minimum focusing distance of 2.8' (0.85m). A PH-RBG82 lens hood, front and rear caps, and a protective case are included with the lens.

Perfect lens. Is a pity that it doesn't fit my model ME super camera.
