Pentax has announced the KF, a compact and lightweight APS-C format DSLR created for adventurous photographers. Featuring an articulating LCD screen, weather-resistant construction, and 24.24MP sensor, the KF marries versatility and durability, making it as useful for documenting family picnics as it is for traversing the rainforest.
The KF is built around a 24.24MP CMOS sensor and PRIME MII processor. Its AA-filter-free design facilitates high resolution image capture with minimal noise or distortion. Built-in Shake Reduction provides up to 4.5 stops of compensation to keep images sharp when using it handheld. Similarly, the KF features the Pixel-Shift Resolution System, capable of combining four images into a super-high-resolution image with exacting color reproduction. Interval capture can also be used to create 4K interval movies, Star Stream movie capture, and Interval composites.
The KF employs a high-precision SAFOX X AF sensor module to provide fast and accurate autofocusing using 11 sensors, including 9 cross-type sensors. Hybrid AF is also available when shooting in Live View. The KF includes 14 Custom Image modes including the new Satobi, Bleach Bypass, and Cross Processing, as well as the special edition Kyushu and Katen compatible with Pentax Limited-series lenses.
A 1.037m-Dot vari-angle LCD monitor adds flexibility whether you’re taking selfies or shooting from extreme angles. The KF features dustproof and weather-resistant construction designed to endure rain, fog, snow, or any other environmental hazard, so you can take it with you virtually anywhere with confidence. The KF’s glass prism viewfinder shares the same optical design as Pentax’s more advanced models, providing a 100% field of view and 0.95x magnification for bright and clear viewing of the image frame. Wireless LAN connectivity provides a means of controlling your camera and transferring files via the Image Sync app on mobile devices. The KF is available by itself or paired with an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.
