Robus Vantage Tripods Offer a Robust Advantage

Catering to photographers looking for sophisticated stability in the most trying environments, Robus is a new tripod line looking to put its feet in the water… literally. Designed around the ethos of a support system that can handle the most demanding climates and terrain, Robus’s Vantage lineup consists of a quartet of carbon fiber legs characterized by their 10x carbon fiber construction, modular design, and notably high weight capacity.

Beginning with the smaller Series 3 tripods first, the most compact, lightweight model of the bunch is the RC-5558 Vantage Series 3, which has a load capacity of 55 lb, maximum height of 58.5", and a folded length of 22.5". This four-section model can also be splayed to a minimum height of just 3.7", and weighs 5.2 lb to suit carrying in the field. Adding a bit of length is the RC-5570 Vantage Series 3, which ups the maximum height to 70.1" for taller working angles. This added height comes at the expense of a slightly longer 25.4" folded length and heavier 5.6 lb weight, but it retains the same 55-lb load capacity for working with nearly any camera-lens combination you could dream up.

Moving onto the beefed-up models, there is the RC-8860 Vantage Series 5 tripod, which ups the load capacity to 77 lb, for even greater stability. This model also has a maximum height of 63.8", folded length of 24.5", minimum height of 4.5", and it weighs 6.3 lb. At the top of the pack is RC-8880 Vantage Series 5, which flexes the same 77-lb load capacity, along with an impressive 80.5" maximum height. This model retains a 4.5" minimum height, but does have a slightly longer 28.5" folded length, and weighs 6.5 lb.

Each Robus tripod features four-section legs made from 10x carbon fiber, and the legs use easy-to-deploy twist locks, along with standard rubber feet that can be swapped with included spiked or wide rubber feet to various terrain types. The legs also sport a CNC-machined aluminum spider for rigidity, and the spider’s design incorporates strap mounts and a bubble level. Additionally, a traditional flat top plate is included, which has a counterweight hook on the bottom, as well as a 75mm video bowl for working with heads featuring a 75mm ball or half ball.

Oben GH-30 Gimbal Head

In addition to the tripods being available as legs only, all four—the RC-558, RC-5570, RC-8860, and RC-8880—can also be paired with an Oben GH-30 Gimbal Head in a kit.
