The Headshot: A Discussion with Peter Hurley

1Share

Peter Hurley brings his “SHABANG” to the B&H Event Space in this rousing talk on all things “headshot.” More than technical details and camera settings, Hurley brings enthusiasm and great stories from his life experiences. He even gives a touching shout-out to a late B&H employee who helped him buy the right gear at the beginning of his career. But blended into this conversation is crucial advice on technique, on how to handle your subjects, on creating brand images, and on pricing and building your own business. While paging through his new book, Hurley talks of changes to the headshot market, his TED talk, “camera invisibility,” and how he gets clients to enjoy their photo session. He even takes time to do a quick photo session, in his own inimitable style. The video of this Event Space talk is available in its complete length, or in an abridged 17-minute version.
