Electro-fy Your Harmonix into Glorious Synthesis with the Synth9

If you’re a guitar player with more than a passing interest in stompboxes, you’ve probably heard of Electro-Harmonix. You’ve probably seen Electro-Harmonix pedals too—and once you’ve noticed them, they’re hard to forget, with their signature, stylish “pedal in a tin can” look.

Nothing tinny about the sound though: Electro Harmonix have provided pedals that have pounded their way into players’ picking arsenals for decades, and the Synth9 is no exception. No mere wah or fuzz here—this pedal is for people who want to transform their timbre into a different instrument entirely. Emulations of the Prophet-5, the Oberheim OB-X, and synths commonly mispronounced and appended with “fooger” are made manifest with the Synth9, which works in glorious polyphony to make sure every note of your chord is tracked and represented.

Its CNTRL knobs act differently depending on which emulation you’ve chosen; you can select among octaves, adjust the sweep time of an envelope, and more. A compressor has been built into the pedal, constantly active on all synth emulations for a more even tone. To compound your routing possibilities, two output jacks are provided—one for dry signal, and one for wet—though you can just use the wet jack if you’d like, dialing in your dry tone as need be.

A power adapter is provided. Also, it’s probably best to keep your pickup in the bridge position when playing through this pedal.
