Neumann has reintroduced a recording legend with the M 50 V Omnidirectional Large-Diaphragm Tube Condenser Microphone, faithfully reviving one of the most influential microphones in classical and film-score history.
Originally released in 1951, the M 50 became inseparable from the Decca Tree technique, shaping orchestral recording for decades. The M 50 V preserves this heritage while incorporating modern refinements, giving today’s engineers access to an authentic M 50 sound that has not been available as a new production microphone for more than half a century.

At its core is a unique 40mm spherical acrylic capsule with a titanium diaphragm, delivering an omnidirectional response that becomes more directional at higher frequencies—an essential characteristic for precise spatial imaging in orchestral arrays.

The classic subminiature tube and large BV11 output transformer remain true to the original design, while an RF-resistant connector and the NM V universal power supply ensure reliable operation in modern, interference-heavy environments.
Handmade and hand-soldered in Germany, the M 50 V includes a yoke mount with elastic shock absorbers, a 33-foot XLR cable, and a carrying case, making it a complete, studio-ready solution for Decca Tree, orchestral, and high-end recording applications.
