With Shure’s latest releases, you can use the RMCE-TW2 second-generation true wireless adapters to turn your favorite detachable Shure SE Series earphones into capable true wireless earbuds, or opt for pre-bundled, lifestyle-integrating true wireless earphones or premium in-ear monitors for the stage, studio, and everywhere in-between. The AONIC 215 Gen 2 (available in black or blue) combine the popular and cost-effective SE215 sound-isolating earphones with the refreshed and advanced RMCE-TW2 second-generation true wireless adapters. On the other end of the spectrum, the SE846 UNI (choose from black, blue, or clear) see Shure’s flagship SE846 sound-isolating earphones bundled with the RMCE-UNI universal remote and mic cable for Apple and Android mobile devices that have a headphone port.
Even the original RMCE-TW1 was quite good, with its high-grade headphone amp, 8-hour battery life (32 hours, thanks to the three extra charges of the charging case), and environment mode for hearing the outside world. The second generation (RMCE-TW2) adds IPX4 water resistance, volume control, customizable button functionality, call enhancements, and more. They do feature the same comfortable around-the-ear wearing style and compatibility with the ShurePlus PLAY app, which provides customizable equalization and environment mode levels for optimal personalization.
AONIC 215 Gen 2
The AONIC 215 Gen 2 utilize the SE215 earphones, which are much simpler and more straightforward than the SE846. From a distance, they appear similar, and they perform similarly in regard to ambient noise reduction. However, each SE215 housing has a single dynamic driver that handles the whole frequency range, rather than splitting it between multiple balanced armature drivers, as is the case with the SE846.
By packaging the SE215 with the updated RMCE-TW2 true wireless secure fit adapter, Shure is granting a path to the SE Series sound for people who frequently find themselves engaged in an active lifestyle. Whether chilling out, working, or working out, the AONIC 215 Gen 2 earphones bring solid sound quality to a form factor that’s friendly for all parts of your day.
Anyone whose ears have been blessed by the stunning sound quality of the SE846 needs no words of persuasion from me. However, for those persons not familiar with these magical earphones, there are some things you should know. First, and most importantly, listening to anything—your favorite old tunes, the newest chart-toppers, orchestral film scores, etc.)—through the SE846 is a truly enlightening experience. Their four custom-balanced armature drivers (per side) are set in a 3-way configuration to deliver the kind of high-end clarity, midrange detail, and impressive bottom end typically reserved for premium monitors and a well-tuned subwoofer in a professional studio.
Beyond their startling ability to reveal sonic elements hidden by so many other transducers while reducing ambient noise by up to 37 dB, the SE846 earphones also come with a full bundle of accessories including various types and sizes of eartips, a carrying case, and three pairs of nozzle inserts that let you select a balanced, warm, or bright tonal signature.
Since the included RMCE-UNI cable has a 3.5mm TRRS connector, it is compatible with smartphones and tablets rocking the traditional 3.5mm headphone port. The in-line module provides volume and playback control and has a built-in microphone, so it can be used for calls, too. Durable, comfortable, sweat-resistant, and customizable, the SE846 sound-isolating earphones are equally stellar for grueling gigs, relaxing rides, and being moved by the music.
It’s worth noting that the SE215 and SE846 feature MMCX connectors, so you’re free to switch between myriad options such as traditional headphone cables, variants with in-line mic/remote modules, Bluetooth cables, and, of course, the RMCE-TW2 true wireless adapters. Like the entire SE line of earphones, the AONIC 215 Gen 2 and SE846 sound great and look cool.
