Podcasters, streamers, and content creators around the globe have raved about Shure’s MV7 dynamic microphone ever since it dropped four years ago. The MV7 set the tone for podcast mic design, sporting a hybrid analog XLR and digital USB design that fit into the setup of just about any creator. Now, Shure is introducing its next-generation update: the MV7+.
Sporting a customizable LED touch panel that can display millions of color combinations while simultaneously acting as a live audio level meter, the MV7+ is well suited to be the centerpiece of your streaming setup. The touch panel also acts as an instant mute button, letting you easily silence your mic for a quick break (or belch).
The microphone element is largely the same celebrated design as the original MV7. The dynamic transducer is highly directional for optimal off-axis rejection from the sides and rear, helping to focus your capture on your voice alone. Proven Voice Isolation Technology, a passive system that carefully controls air flow, further isolates your voice and eliminates unwanted low-frequency rumbles.
Just like the original MV7, the MV7+ also features an optimized frequency response, designed to reproduce a rich and natural vocal sound. To make things even easier and hands free, the Auto Level mode from the original MV7 is improved for precise automatic mic level adjustments according to spatial direction.
But let’s not bury the lead here—the big news with the MV7+ is improved MOTIV support, allowing you to easily enrich your vocal capture with the MOTIV Mix, Audio, and Video apps for advanced control over your microphone. Not only can you adjust gain, EQ, compression, and a limiter, but you also get a host of other useful DSP including: a Digital Popper Stopper for eliminating plosives, a real-time denoiser, and three types of reverbs (plate, hall, and studio) for a truly polished result.
Finally, rest assured that the beloved ergonomic design of the original MV7 remains largely unchanged, with a rugged, all-metal construction for outstanding reliability, although the foam windscreen has been lengthened to introduce an air gap for better plosive performance. The integrated yoke sports easy positioning on standard 5/8" threaded stands or booms. And the mic still includes a high-quality, built-in headphone output for direct, low-latency monitoring while recording.
The MV7+ is available in two colors, black and white, as well as in a kit that bundles it with a Gator desktop stand. For those embarking on their first ever podcast build or are interested in expanding to a two-person setup, the bundle will let you hit the ground running.
