The new MusicCast speakers, from Yamaha, enable wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay, or Wi-Fi, and can be controlled from your Amazon Alexa-enabled devices. Available in black or white, the MusicCast 20 is wall-mountable with its rear 1/4"-20 thread and is equipped with a 1" tweeter and a 3.5" woofer, plus passive radiators on the left and right sides to help create a broad soundstage. The MusicCast 50, also available in black or white, has two 1" tweeters and two 4" woofers, and features a bass-reflex design to help provide enhanced low-frequency effects.
Both models also feature an Ethernet port for wired network connectivity and Spotify Connect capability for a more seamless listening experience. Each MusicCast speaker can be controlled wirelessly by the MusicCast app, which is available for iOS and Android; in addition to basic speaker controls, the app enables you to connect speakers together wirelessly in stereo pairs or in a multi-room setup, where MusicCast speakers in different rooms can all play the same thing. You can also connect a pair of MusicCast speakers wirelessly to your compatible receiver to provide wireless rear surround effects. Furthermore, via a future firmware update, you’ll be able to add a MusicCast SUB100 to a pair of MusicCast 20 or MusicCast 50 speakers to create a 2.1-channel system.
