Searching for the perfect gift for the drone lover in your life? Check out our recommendations for the best drones to give this holiday season!
DJI Mini 3 Pro
This year, the DJI Mini 3 Pro earned our vote for best all-around mini drone—and for good reason. Not only does the Mini 3 Pro excel in just about every performance category, but it can literally fit in the palm of your hand.
The Mini 3 Pro features a larger sensor size than its predecessor, the addition of obstacle avoidance in three directions, a boost in video and photo quality, and even a Plus battery option that extends its standard 34 minutes of flight time up to an impressive 47 minutes.
DJI Air 2S
The Air 2S returns tremendous value thanks to its long list of features and competitive price. This drone enables 5K up to 30p, UHD 4K up to 60p, Full HD up to 240 fps, and the ability to create 20MP stills. That 48MP resolution enables an 8K hyper-lapse setting, as well.
Autel EVO Nano+
Te Autel Evo Nano+ shares many features with the DJI Mini Pro 3. Like the Mini Pro 3, it's super lightweight and fits in the palm of your hand, so it is exempt from registration requirements. It's also great for capturing aerial photo and video thanks to its 1/1.28" CMOS sensor with an effective sensor resolution of 50MP and a fast f/1.9 lens for low-light environments.
The Nano+ comes with four automatic shooting modes onboard to ease capture, as well as three-way binocular obstacle avoidance cameras for safety. It’s a fantastic drone and a great alternative to the Mini Pro 3.
Power Vision PowerRay Wizard
Going underwater with video doesn’t mean you need to don a wetsuit; you can get an underwater ROV instead! Among our favorites is the PowerRay, from Power Vision, thanks to its relatively affordable price point and solid feature set. It can dive down to 98' deep and has a 230' tether cable for taking it a decent way from your boat or dock. As for image quality, it will record in up to UHD 4K and can capture 12MP stills with ease. A large battery keeps it going for a long time, while lights can help in dim situations (and it’s always dim if you go deep enough).
The Wizard version comes with a pair of ZEISS VR ONE Plus goggles for real-time streaming of Full HD video for a first-person underwater perspective. Anglers will also enjoy the PowerSeeker Fishfinder with detection for fish and landscape details down to 131' deep, a fish-luring light, and remote bait-drop function.
It’s a fun little package that goes beyond just capturing video.
