Canon Announces the Updated CR-N700 PTZ Camera, New Flex Zoom Cine Lenses, Accessories

Announcing Canon's new offerings for its PTZ camera and cine lens lines—just in time for NAB. Canon has released an updated model of the CR-N700 Indoor PTZ camera, PTZ auto-tracking and auto-looping firmware updates, a 14-35mm T1.7 Cine Flex Zoom lens, a 31.5-95mm T1.7 Cine Flex Zoom lens, and multiple zoom lens relay kit upgrades. Canon will also be presenting the future MS-500 high-precision monitoring camera at NAB 2023, which is now in development.

Auto-Tracking and Auto-Looping Firmware

The updated CR-N700 joins the impressive PTZ camera lineup that includes the CR-N700, CR-N300, CR-N500, and CR-X300, adding pre-installed auto-tracking firmware. The updated version includes all the great hardware features of the CR-N700 with the addition of being able to program and follow your subject around the room without operator interaction. You may update existing CR-N700, CR-N300, and CR-N500 cameras with this new firmware with a separate purchase. The updated CR-N700 comes in black or white finishes.

There is also a new auto-looping firmware update available for purchase for the CR-N700, CR-N300, CR-N500, and CR-X300. Auto-looping application allows you to program the camera to follow a preset route, so the camera can perform repeat movements without operator interaction.

New Cine Flex Zoom Lenses

Two new fast Cine Flex zoom lenses, the 14-35mm T1.7 and 31.5-95mm T1.7, have been added to the existing 20-50mm and 45-135mm Cine Flex zooms. The two new lenses offer a faster T1.7 constant aperture and Super 35 sensor coverage. They retain all the characteristics of the lens line, including 0.8 MOD gears, Canon EOS cinema color matching, and the same warm, color-accurate look with natural skin tones. Each lens is available in EF and PL-mount options, and the PL-mount option supports Cooke/i technology.

Then the new Relay Kits, also released alongside the lenses, that can adjust the length of the Cine Flex zoom lenses to conform to different sensor sizes will be right for you. The offerings include 14-35mm to 20-50mm and 31.5-95mm to 45-135mm kits for use on full-frame sensors, and 20-50mm to 14-35mm and 45-135mm to 31.5-95mm kits for use on Super 35 sensors.
