Ilford 1172049 reviews

Multigrade FB Classic Paper (Glossy, 11 x 14", 50 Sheets) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for photography students I am not a fan of glossy paper but this paper has just the right amount of gloss so that the glare isn't overwhelming. It is a little bit on the expensive side (compared to RC paper) but Ilford is a trustworthy brand so I would pick this one over most other brands. The paper does curl after it's been printed on and developed, which is expected, but the paper actually comes slightly curled as well. Sometimes that makes me nervous about getting a completely sharp image if I can't get the paper down fully flat when I'm exposing it to print. Otherwise, very good paper for black and white printing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Paper I use this paper for my intermediate B&W photography class and it is great. It is packaged well so light does not leak in and the paper does not fog. The tones come out nice but keep in mind it gets darker as it drys (as fiber paper does). The switch to fiber paper from RC paper is tough though. This paper is easier to get chemical stains on so you have to be extra careful in the printing process. Besides that it's worth the extra time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Money! If you're a photography student and are seeing lackluster prints in the darkroom, I highly suggest checking out this paper. It's expensive but well worth it. Prints come out full of contrast and have that black and white film look. If your photography professor has suggested using fiber based paper, I highly recommend checking it out. And if you're a professional photographer, this is excellent paper for smaller prints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Photo Paper for Carbon Transfer Prints I use this paper to make carbon transfer prints. The paper is first fixed out so that it is no longer light sensitive. It then serves as a transfer medium onto which a carbon print tissue (gelatin-sugar-dichromate) is mounted. The paper works very well for this technique and results in a highly archival black and white image. This paper is an excellent choice for making carbon transfer prints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fine paper rich blacks, clear whites, wonderful gradations, fast speed, real nice neutral blacks on a pure white base. Excellent value and substantial paper thickness. Dries well on screens with minimal curling and with a nice gloss surface. One of the best papers that I have ever used. Been a serious photog for over 45 years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Consistent in Contrast Whether printing horror shots of orchids, lovely ladies drowning in empty bathtubs, or damsels in distress hanging by their necks from meat hooks, Ilford provides me with consistent results, a wide tonal range, and a variety of finishes from matte to glossy at a fair and reasonable price

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Photo paper for my niece's project at college Bought this for my niece for her photography final assignment. This is the photo paper she had been using for 2 semesters. In this box about a 1/4th of the paper was no good. I am assuming that the box had been damaged, but she was on a deadline and we had no time to exchange it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Traditional Very similar to paper I used consistently 10 years ago, if not the exact same except for the name. Professional grade and high quality. Rich blacks and bright whites. Not overly glossy, but enough sheen. I would only use Ilford black and white darkroom paper.
