Ilford 1172104 reviews

Multigrade FB Classic Paper (Glossy, 16 x 20", 50 Sheets) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for artists film photographers This is an excellent paper, FB VC glossy paper is designed for exhibition quality prints that delivers a full range of the 256 shades of gray. I am printing my Senior Show, for my BFA in photography graduation and I could not be happier with the results. I am using and archival printing process which requires 2 fixes and Selenium toning with the Hypo to preserve the prints. I am glad that I chose this paper for my senior show, I could not be happier with the results.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This makes me want to quit analogue I am comparing this product to the Ilford Multigrade Fiber Glossy Paper. The previously discontinued version by Ilford which has now been replaced by this product. First off, I'm disappointed in this because the paper has gotten thinner than it was previously. Fiber paper used to be something that gave you a lovely feeling compared with the plasticky finish of Resin coated papers but this one is not only thin it feels plasticky all around. Second, whilst printing, I notice really faint lines, almost like crop marks appearing very close to the edge of my paper. It has consistently been turning up in every other print I make and, having made sure it has nothing to do with my easel/exposure, I can't help coming to the conclusion that this is a manufacturing defect! Ilford used to make really beautiful papers but seeing their old products discontinued and replaced by thinner, more plasticky, paper that gives a cheaper finish (not physically cheaper price of silver has been escalating) and feel to them, I can't help but feel this is a product replacement that is helping the company Ilford cut costs and leverage on the current trend of the resurgence of analogue photography. Bring back the real stuff those heavyweight fiber papers and stop crafting darkroom paper that feels like a run-of-the mill product for the mass market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent paper for professionals or enthusiasts Ilford papers are an excellent choice for pretty much all darkroom applications. The base is very bright, and the new formulation has a good contrast flexibility. I also like that Ilford produces paper from very small to extremely large (rolls), so when I make my mural sized prints I know it will have the same consistent look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obviously I've been printing with this paper for a long time but just started with this size. Same amazing paper, same consistency - it's a classic. Definitely the paper to get started with if you're new to the darkroom, and will probably be the one you keep going back to for your everyday printing.
