SKB 1SKB-R3709W Overview

The 37" Roto-Molded Tripod Case with Wheels from SKB is designed to hold your tripod or light stands. Foam in the lid and bottom protect your equipment from bumps and dings. Rotational molding is a three-stage heating process that results in evenness all around the edges of the case. The polyethylene material is inserted into a mold, and then gradually rotated until the material sticks to the edges of the mold in an even pattern. Once cooled, this plastic material forms a strong bond that minimizes sagging and potential collapse.

Solid

No padding of any sort inside so I have to fill it with sweatshirts to keep everything from knocking around and scraping paint. It also smells terrible even after months of airing it out between gigs it will still clear my filming room when I arrive at my gig. It is solid and built to last though so the smell is forgivable.

great for video18

bought it for my Sachtler Video 18 tripod system. Added a little of my own foam in the top, but overall the sticks fit nicely.

Buy it until someone makes the perfect travel case

A good investment to protect your tripod and boom pole. I only wish there was a slightly smaller version. This one is 1.5 longer than oversize airline limit, which means 90% of time it will get through no problem, but all you need is one stickler in the check in line and you're going to be screwed with a $200 extra charge. Design-wise, it's well-built and very heavy duty plastic, while staying fairly light. Only thing is I don't know why there's not some kind of secondary/additional means of securing the top. A lock? A latch in addition to the strap? It makes the less-than heavy-duty strap the weakest link in the chain...

Perfect for flying!

Hold a tripod and boom pole perfectly. I would keep the tripod in its soft-case. This is probably only large enough for 75mm tripods. We use Sachtler SA-0775. Fits great and room for a boom pole and bottom plate of a Sony F5. TAPE THE PLATE TO THE TRIPOD OR TSA WILL LOSE IT!

Best tripod case

Though Im not a big fan of SKB, when it comes to storing your tripod — they are the only right way to go. Got it for my Flowtech 100, to keep it safe in flights and added some foam just to keep it from bouncing around. Great case, no doubt.

Great for travel

Needed a solid travel case for a shoot in LA without breaking the bank. Was able to safely pack my tripod, boom pole, and necessary stingers with no problem. No over the top bells and whistles but frankly for this I didn't need them.

Great Case but just one thing...

This case has plenty of room for our Sachtler 18 system either in its soft case and then put in the hard case OR not in the soft case and then you have room to put the ground spreader and mid-level in the case. Wheels are great and carry handles are nicely placed. The top is easy to take on and off. One negative, and I haven't flown with this case yet, but it definitely isn't as thick as a tuffpack case or our other travel tripod hard case. It has some flex to it which concerns me.

Great Case

The is the most solid case I have seen, much better I thought possible. I use it form my telescope tripod which is heavy, which the wheels and handles make transporting it so much easier. Two small pet peeves; the straps to secure the top get in the way of putting the top on and some padding on the inside of the case would have been nice.

question

Anyone know if it will fit the Westcott 32inch Rapid Box duo collapsible beauty dish with a compact tripod? Is it perfectly cylindrical inside?
Asked by: Dennis
I can't answer your beauty dish question, but I can tell you that the inside is not perfectly cylindrical. The interior shape matches that of the exterior.

question

Will I be able to check this bag and not pay oversize fee at airport. Most airlines use L, W, H, total of 62 inches and under as not oversized. Also I have a 38 slider, will this fit in the case?
Asked by: Brad
I travelled with Swiss with no problems but think it was into their limits but they did not take any measures at the check in. I have the feeling that this kind of shape has not big troubles at check-in but then of course it depends on how strict are the companies.
