Hi,Is this lens hood compatible with the Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G EDII zoom lens?What is the difference in terms of function, lens attachment/detachment and other aspects between this type of lens hood and the Nikon HB-45 Snap-On Lens Hood (B&H # NIHB45 - MFR #4941)? Is this type of lens hood design better or worse compared to the purely round design of the Nikon HB-45 Snap-On Lens Hood? Is one better than the other in terms of reducing flare/ghosting/sunspots?How do both lens hoods inquired about in this post (the HB-69 Bayonet and the HB-45 Snap-On) work with filters, such as circular polarizers and ND filters, with the lens listed?Thank you,
Yes the Nikon HB-69 Bayonet Lens Hood is the correct hood for the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II DX Lens. The HB-45 will not fit on your lens. It was made only for the other 18-55 Nikon lenses, not the II. You can use filters with the lens hood.

The HB-69 Bayonet Lens Hood fits the AF-S DX NIKKOR18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II. The AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G requires the HB-46 Bayonet Lens Hood.

It should be. I have the nikon dx vr af-s 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6GII and it fits perfectly. Not sure if the II at the end is significant or not.
