Vello LR Overview

The FreeWave LR Wireless Flash Trigger and Remote Control from Vello is a versatile, reliable remote control kit that will trigger off-camera flash units and studio lights from up to 600' away. The 2.4 GHz frequency provides reduced radio interference and an extended range without the need for line-of-sight alignment as the radio waves will pass through some walls, windows, and floors. The system is compatible with most major manufacturers' shoe-mount flashes which offer manual power control. Pentax, Sony/Minolta, and Sony Multi-Interface Shoe flash units are not compatible.

Eight different channels let you trigger only chosen specific receivers, or an "all channels" button will trigger all receivers simultaneously. The transmitter's tilting joint allows it to be mounted vertically or horizontally onto your camera's hot shoe.

An included 3.5 to 3.5mm sync cable connects the trigger to a studio flash. A 3.5mm to 1/4" mono plug adapter is also included for flashes with a 1/4" mono plug socket.
A hot shoe on the trigger allows for mounting the flash directly to the trigger.
Mount the trigger to any 1/4"-20 threaded stud or standard cold shoe.
The transmitter features a metal foot for durability.
A carrying pouch with an external and internal pocket protects your transmitter and receiver when not in use.
Two lanyards allow you to hang the transmitter and receiver from light stands or other equipment.

First, the B&H service is exceptional. I ordered and had the kit in hand within 18 hours...NY to NH wow! This kit is exactly as advertised. After playing with it for a bit I tried to see if it really would work through a wall...it did! Low cost solution to my off camera flash needs. Love it.

This product works very well on my camera. It is responsive and reliable. I appreciate the help that the B&H staff (online) gave me in choosing it... I had tried other brands that did not work, and so I am thankful that they steered me this way.

These worked right out of the box. Replaced a very small set from another manufacturer than had those big flat hearing aid type batteries. These have two AA's, simple to install, and has an on/off switch for easy use.

This trigger works well and is easy to install. Just put the trigger on the camera hotshoe, put the receiver on the speedlight hotshoe connection, and you're set to go. Works everytime you fire the camera.

This product works as advertised and is very easy to use. Absolutely no complaints! Also, B&H answered all my questions and followed up to make sure things were good and that I was happy with the product. It was a great experience all around! B&H blew Adorama out of the water with their customer service, price and quick shipping!

question

I have this kit plus a few extra receivers. Is there anyway to buy a different Phottix transmitter that supports HSS and use with the 3 Ares receivers I have?
Asked by: Keenan G.
Since HSS is a product of the TTL system in the camera which is being used, there is no way for a manual trigger such as the Phottix Ares or the Vello Freewave LR to become HSS ready. The only way to have HSS is to use a Phottix trigger such as the Odin or Odin II. Additionally, the Vello Freewave LR works on a different frequency all together, therefore cannot be triggered by another other brand of radio trigger.

Will these work using an older Photogenic powerlight 375 with a Canon 7D or a 5Ds camera?
Asked by: Frederic
The Vello Freewave LR would not be compatible with the older Photogenic Powerlight 375 monolights due to their higher sync voltage.

Will this work with a sony a7rii and alien bees b800
Asked by: Obidigbo
While the Vello Freewave LR system does work with the Alien Bees monolights, the transmitter in that system does not work with Sony cameras that utilize the Multi-Interface Shoe. A better option is to use the Godox X1T-S TTL Wireless Flash Trigger Transmitter for Sony, B&H # GOX1TS on your Sony camera and the Godox X1R-S TTL Wireless Flash Trigger Receiver for Sony, B&H # GOX1RS on each Alien Bees monolight. https://bhpho.to/2S49A3Q https://bhpho.to/2X0htLn

Is this compatible with Quantum QF8N flash?
Asked by: tinh
I’m not familiar with that flash. I use mine with Interfit EXD 200 strobes and they work great. I purchased a second receiver as I have two strobes and I love it. No more wires on the floor. I use a Canon 7D MarkII camera.

I use regular AA batteries and have found that they last a good long time. In short, battery life is really not an issue.
