The FreeWave LR Wireless Flash Trigger and Remote Control from Vello is a versatile, reliable remote control kit that will trigger off-camera flash units and studio lights from up to 600' away. The 2.4 GHz frequency provides reduced radio interference and an extended range without the need for line-of-sight alignment as the radio waves will pass through some walls, windows, and floors. The system is compatible with most major manufacturers' shoe-mount flashes which offer manual power control. Pentax, Sony/Minolta, and Sony Multi-Interface Shoe flash units are not compatible.

question
I have this kit plus a few extra receivers. Is there anyway to buy a different Phottix transmitter that supports HSS and use with the 3 Ares receivers I have?
Since HSS is a product of the TTL system in the camera which is being used, there is no way for a manual trigger such as the Phottix Ares or the Vello Freewave LR to become HSS ready. The only way to have HSS is to use a Phottix trigger such as the Odin or Odin II. Additionally, the Vello Freewave LR works on a different frequency all together, therefore cannot be triggered by another other brand of radio trigger.

Will these work using an older Photogenic powerlight 375 with a Canon 7D or a 5Ds camera?
The Vello Freewave LR would not be compatible with the older Photogenic Powerlight 375 monolights due to their higher sync voltage.

If your camera has a hot shoe to mount an on-camera flash unit, it should be compatible with the free wave trigger.

Will this work with a sony a7rii and alien bees b800
While the Vello Freewave LR system does work with the Alien Bees monolights, the transmitter in that system does not work with Sony cameras that utilize the Multi-Interface Shoe. A better option is to use the Godox X1T-S TTL Wireless Flash Trigger Transmitter for Sony, B&H # GOX1TS on your Sony camera and the Godox X1R-S TTL Wireless Flash Trigger Receiver for Sony, B&H # GOX1RS on each Alien Bees monolight.

Is this compatible with Quantum QF8N flash?
Is this compatible with Quantum QF8N flash?
I’m not familiar with that flash. I use mine with Interfit EXD 200 strobes and they work great. I purchased a second receiver as I have two strobes and I love it. No more wires on the floor. I use a Canon 7D MarkII camera.

What is the average battery life?
I use regular AA batteries and have found that they last a good long time. In short, battery life is really not an issue.
