It is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times in order to reduce dust and moisture from reaching the front lens element and to provide additional protection in case of accidental impacts.

The EVO antistatic coating on this filter helps to repel dust, as well as water, scratches, and stains, and aids in making the substrate easy to clean. Additionally, a 18-layer Super Multi-Coating helps to reduce surface reflections and ghosting for maintained contrast and clarity. The optical glass filter is set within a one-piece low-profile aluminum ring, which lessens the likelihood of vignetting if used on a wide-angle lens. Hoya EVO Antistatic UV Filter Reviews

I have learned about buying quality UV filters

I have learned over the years that it is better to spend a little bit of extra money on a UV filter, because if you don’t, you’re gonna pay for it in the end. I used to think that a UV filter was just something to protect the front glass on my lens. As I started getting better cameras and better lenses, I learned that you should always buy a good UV filter. First of all, they are built so much better. You have less chance of back threading, and the lens filter goes on easier and comes off easier too (when putting it on or taking it off. I have a friend who had purchased cheaper UV filters and it seemed like all of his pictures were out of focus, until he changed to a better UV filter, or no filter at all… after that the focus was perfect. This filter works great. I don’t have to worry about it. I just put it on my lens. It protects my lens, and I know I’m gonna get good clear pictures every time.

Hoya filters are great. No significant affect on image quality while protecting the lens. It’s a small amount to pay in exchange for protecting a high end lens.

Hi, are these the "super slim" frame? I have read about a couple people with sony camera lenses that have issues with the lens cap scratching the filter because of the slim/low profile design. Thanks
Asked by: Renee
The Hoya 77mm EVO Antistatic UV(0) Filter is not super slim as the ring is 4 mm deep. Most 77 mm lens caps have about 2 mm depth so the lens cap will not scratch the filter.
