Miops Smart+ Camera Trigger

The MIOPS Smart+ Camera Trigger is a versatile way to capture images using lightning, sound, or laser to trigger your camera or flash. It features six different modes of operation with adjustable sensitivity depending on your given shooting situation.

In addition to the lightning, sound, laser, timelapse, and HDR modes enable additional creative output. An external port can connect to various sensors to trigger your camera based on variables such as temperature, pressure, or humidity. An app for either iOS or Android allows you to control the MIOPS from your smartphone using Bluetooth connectivity. When not using a smartphone, all functions can be controlled by a color LCD screen on the unit.

Lightning Mode
A built-in light sensor detects changes in light and triggers your camera's shutter in just a few nanoseconds. You can capture only bright lightning strikes, or the smallest strikes, simply by adjusting the sensitivity. This mode can also be used to capture fireworks, or other events where you need to capture images based on changes in light.
Laser Mode
The MIOPS has a built-in sensor to detect when a laser beam is broken, thereby triggering your camera's shutter. This is useful for detecting subjects such as water drops, animals, or intruders when conducting surveillance.
Sound Mode
MIOPS's built-in microphone can detect sound, triggering your camera or flash to capture things like breaking glass, or a popping balloon. You can adjust the delay of the trigger as well as the sensitivity of amount of sound needed to trigger the shutter.
Timelapse Mode
This mode lets you specify the interval time anywhere between one second and one hour, as well as how many photos to take. The LCD screen will turn off to save energy, allowing you to take a timelapse photo for days, or even months if you use an external power source.
HDR Mode
Even if your camera doesn't have a bracketing feature, MIOPS allows you to set a center exposure, as well as the over and under exposures needed in order to make an HDR image.
External Port
A port on the MIOPS can accept any external trigger that has an output signal between 0V and 3V, such as a temperature, pressure, or humidity sensor.
Combining Sensors
You can combine sensors with MIOPS's Scenario feature by creating a custom scenarios with up to five different steps. For example, you can set the MIOPS to start taking timelapse photos only after it detects lightning.
Triggering Your Camera and Flash
MIOPS has two dedicated outputs, one for a flash, and another for a camera. They are electrically isolated from each other, reducing risk of a short circuit. The MIOPS trigger can be used with multiple cameras (not simultaneously) by simply changing the camera connection cable.
Mini-USB Port
The mini-USB port allows you to charge your Li-ion battery, as well as update the MIOPS's firmware.
Compatibility
MIOPS can be used with any cameras which have a remote shutter trigger port or an IR port, and any and flash units with a PC sync jack.

Miops MIOPS Reviews

Failed to trigger during thunderstorm in Bolivia!

I had high hopes for this product, based on its claimed ability and ease of use for lightning photography. So I updated to the latest firmware via the app (very easy) and took it to Bolivia last week during the rainy season and went outside during a thunderstorm. I set up my Nikon Z8 on tripod for manual exposure and focus and pre-focused on my subject to minimize any delay when the MIOPS triggered the camera. I spent over an hour watching lighting flashes 4-5 miles away in front of the MIOPS trigger and not a single time did it trigger the camera. I then began playing with the sensitivity setting adjusting it from 1 to 99 but it made no difference. No triggers. It was a total fail. Eventually, part of the thunderstorm reached me from behind with lightning directly above me and a vicious hailstorm and windstorm broke out along with torrential rains and nearby lightning flashes so I had to move out urgently. In all of this not a single shot was triggered by the MIOPS trigger. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in this product. I liked the size, design and promised functionality but all that is useless if it never triggers the camera when it should. Major fail!

NOT GOOD SO FAR

I finally got the opportunity to take the MIOPS out and try it. It was set on sound with one mil.sec. on the delay.and approx 36 on sensitivity. The flash went off,I heard the shutter release approx 1/4 second after the shot. (I prefocused and set the camera on Man. Focus so there would be no delay there.) The slide was back in battery and I was coming back on target when the flash recorded me looking at the gun. Thats not 1 milsec. delay. I tried different settings to no avail. I will try again before I send it back but there appear to be other issues. The screen had no protector on it when I opened the box and had Micro scratches on the screen. That says Maybe a returned item? The battery also showed dead after showing full one second earlier.and then full again next frame. What gives there. Yes I did fully charge the battery before using the Product

will this unit work with the northern lights?
Asked by: Kenny
The Miops Camera Trigger with Cable for Nikon 10-Pin Cameras Kit, will work as a remote trigger with a camera mounted to a tripod, using the Miops app on a smart phone or tablet. If the Northern lights appear in short bursts of Photons, (light), one can adjust the sensitivity of the Miops to be triggered by a burst of light. It is important to raise one's ISO, and to shoot time exposures on the tripod.

question

HelloCan i charge it while it is working?for example a long timelapse or a laser trigger mode which exceeds the lifetieme of the battery - can i plug it into an external power source?
Asked by: Anonymous
If the battery is not in the MIPOS you can power it directly from the USB port. But if the battery is in the MIPOS and you plug in the USB port to a power source it will not function but charge the battery. The manual for this can be read at this link http://bit.ly/1GbKjri.

Asked by: Ray
Yes the Nikon Miopis trigger kit with the 10 pin cable will work with the 200D and and flash units. You will need a trigger and receivers for your lights to fire them. And you can use the Mobile Dongle for iOS and Android should you want to use your phone to physically trigger the camera which will then trigger the lights.

Asked by: justin
The Nikon Z6III mirrorless camera doesn't have a 10-pin connection, so the Miops Camera Trigger with Cable for Nikon 10-Pin Cameras Kit will not be compatible. For the Z6III mirrorless camera, you will need the Miops Smart Camera Trigger with Cable for Nikon MC-DC2 Cameras Kit and you can find the item here: https://bhpho.to/47vdyfo.
