The Octa 7-socket back panel has dual rocker switches, each of which control on/off function for 3 or 4 lamps allowing the creation of a light ratio. The Octa has a multi-voltage power supply for worldwide use (with optional adapter plug) and has a standard 5/8" receiver for light stands and accessories.

The included softbox features a highly reflective pebbled interior and a removable front face that attaches with simple touch fasteners. In use, it renders the signature wraparound look that the modifier's shape is well known for, as well as natural circular catchlights in your subject's eyes. Great price for stationary always-on lights. Not recommended for frequent disassembly or traveling. Best for studio. Like our reseller business.

Fluorescents are too hot and still can't get rid of glare

I replaced the included bulbs with LEDs, same brightness as the fluorescents, as the original bulbs were too hot for me to work under while filming short painting demonstrations I have also had a difficult time with glare on my palette, despite using all covers included in the kit. I use two of these fixtures to even out the light. I thought the light would be better and that the diffuser would even out the light, but both have been a bit disappointing.

Can someone tell me the output of these lights in lumens or lux at 1 meter?
Asked by: Michael
According to the manufacturer, when using the Raya Octa Fluorescent 7-Socket Fixture 1-Light Softbox Kit, using the included Eiko 26-watt bulbs, inner baffle, and diffuser would be 678 lux @ 1 meter (3.3 feet). The CCT color temperature is 5061K, with color accuracy measurements listed as CRI 87.6 and TCLI of 70. Unfortunately, they did not have a lumens measurement for this light fixture setup.

question

Regarding product RAOCOF71LK (Raya softbox kit and 7-bulb fixture) what kind of boom arm could be used, at the minimum? How much weight should a boom arm be able to support to work with this light fixture?
Asked by: Ursa D.
The boom should support no less than 8 lbs. This would be the one I would get, Avenger D600 Mini Boom (Chrome-plated) B&H # AVD600 MFR # D600But you need a good strong stand and a counter weight /sandbag.

question

I was thinking of purchasing this to use on location outdoors. What is the most affordable portable power supply that you would recommend to use with this?
Asked by: Roxanne S.
Hi Roxanne,Since this unit is 110 AC, the only thing I know of is a fairly large battery and an inverter. A better choice might be a 1x1 LED light. B&H sells several that can not only run off small attached batteries, but are also variable color balance, so you can use them outdoors or balance with existing tungsten light sources. The ones I bought are made by Genaray and come complete with batteries and chargers.

question

Could I use one, two or three Savage 50W LED bulbs (B&H # SA50WLED) in some of the seven fluorescent sockets on this light head? Thank you!
Asked by: Mark H.
While the Savage 50W LED bulbs have the same Edison base as the fluorescent lamps included with this fixture, they have not be tested by the manufacturer as being fully compatible. Your results may vary.
