Sigma TC-2001 for Canon EF Reviews

Auto focus works with Sigma 60-600 on a Nikon Z7!

I read the product information and a few reviews that said autofocus didn't work for the full zoom range of the Sigma 60-600 with the 2x teleconverter. However I already knew that the auto focus works with the Nikon 2x teleconverter and Nikon 200-500 on a Nikon Z7 so I bought it anyway hoping it also would work with a Nikon Z7, and it did! Very happy with this product. I haven't fully tested it yet but the sharpness seems to be very good. I will upload some images after further testing. Also very happy with the Sigma 60-600.

Good for Bird Photos

I shoot with a Canon 5Ds and have been using the Sigma 150-600mm lens for my bird photography for 3 years. I recently purchased the Sigma TC-2001 2x Teleconverter to give me a little more reach when birds are far, but also when they are close to get more detail. I had to experiment with my settings and because this teleconverter makes the Sigma 150-600mm manual focus only, it takes some practice to get used to...especially since I usually don't use a tripod when shooting birds. Here is a shot I took this morning of a Black-capped Chickadee that was less than 50 feet away. This was not cropped

I bought this to go along with my Sigma 150-600mm lens. Just like the lens I couldn't be happier. It's adding an additional reach for myself to continue to play around in the photography world. It's a great lower cost alternative to some of the other higher end options. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking to expand their arsenal.

Too Soft

I used this with a Sigma 60-600 lens on a Blackmagic Pocket 4K. The teleconverter prevents the autofocus from working correctly. I don't know if I should blame the teleconverter, the lens, or the camera for that, but regardless, it doesn't work. Also, the built-in lens stabilization goes wonky. I thought it was bad lens. It took me weeks to finally realize it was the teleconverter that was screwing up the stabilization. I used this mostly for video, which is bit more forgiving than photography in terms of sharpness. Even so, I found it too soft. I haven't checked, but you might actually get better results used an AI scaling tool like Topaz Labs Gigapixel AI instead of using this converter. I cannot recommend this equipment.

SO far it has been great - it allows me to reach out in ways I never could before

The Canon 2x is better

Bought this and the Canon version. I paired the extenders with the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary and the Sigma 70-200mm sport. Both lenses performed better on the Canon. There was less chromatic aberration and it was sharper compared to the Sigma. The other issue with the sigma is, it will not work with Canon glass. Just spend the extra money on the Canon.

You can use this one and it will function depending on the lens, however a 2x teleconverter, no matter, the brand, will soften the image overall a fair amount so I usually recommend at most, using a 1.4x.

question

I gotta a 150-600 c for Cannon with a lens mount adaptor for Sony e. If I get this teleconverter will it fit the lenses and the lenses adaptor for Sony e?
Asked by: Rafael N.
You can use a teleconverter but more than likely the adapter will not recognize and you will not have autofocus as a result.

Hi, I have a Canon M5 that I mainly use with the Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. Could this converter work with it?
Asked by: Julie
I bought one to go with my 150-600 lens, the autofocus only went up to about 400mm from there I had to manually adjust the focus. It did work in the low range, but the higher range my eye are not good enough to get a good focus.
