Dell P2715Q Reviews

After some online research, the continued message was that the newer dell monitor is not as good as this one. I was glad to find one available, and also purchased a used one for my dual monitor setup.Everything has looked great so far, the only issue I see is occasionally the monitor I have hooked up via hdmi will random flash once in a while. I swapped hdmi cables and it got better. The monitor Im using via displayport does not do that.

I Had Such High Hopes!

But Im sorry to report my disappointment. I purchased the monitor to improve the detail and clarity I have on my 15 Dell laptop screen. I planned to use it for post-processing my photos. I hooked up the monitor to my older Dell laptop, after going out to buy an HDMI cord, which was not included with the monitor. I understood that the monitor was plug and play - calibrated at the factory with great color. There was a green tint to all photos and graphics. I tried every setting on the monitor with no luck. Compared to the laptop, there was no detail - the images seem fuzzy. I am going to give it one more try, and if it doesnt seem better, my challenge will be to fit it back into the box and return it. I wish I could report a better outcome!

Love the sharp text

The sharp text alone is worth the price for my aging eyes.  Color looks pretty decent when compared to my Surface Book and other Dell monitors.   I have just a few issues.  All I can live with.   First, I wish the monitor were offered in a 16:10 aspect ratio.  This replaced my Dell 2008WFP, which was 16:10.  I miss the taller ratio when reading web pages and docs.  16:9 isnt bad, but entertainment is not my primary use.  I would appreciate the optimization for reading and code.  This is not specific to this monitor obviously, but I wish the monitor manufacturers would go back to 16:10. Second, this monitor seems to struggle with the thunderbolt to displayport output on my Intel NUC8i5BEH.  It keeps waking every 15 secs when the NUC is in sleep mode.  If I switch to HDMI, it works fine.  Unfortunately, when connected via HDMI, colors look a little washed out.  Both issues could be related to the Intel display driver in the NUC, but sad this doesnt just work when both the monitor and computer are new.  Id been sitting on this monitor purchase for over a year.  Regret that I waited so long.

The best for the price

I bought my first P2715Q a couple years ago and loved it. The bezels and stand are lackluster but the display is spot on - color accurate, crisp, and bright. When it came time to buy a second one for a dual monitor setup, I had trouble finding another P2715Q. It seem Dell is discontinuing it. So I tried the U2718Q (which seemed to be an updated version of this monitor) and it was TERRIBLE. Luckily I found this P2715Q at B&H, although it was a lot cheaper a couple months ago. B&H seems to be the only retailer still carrying it. I bit the bullet and bought one anyway to match my other monitor. Very satisfied.

Nice monitor

I bought this to use as a second monitor for my 5K iMac. It looks great, and with a small bit of adjusting I have it matching the iMac very closely.  The only downsides are; it’s a typical  cheap looking plastic pc design, the visually distracting cord management is ugly, and the placement of the buttons and logo on the front are distracting.

question

I just purchased a jazzed up iMac 5k with top specs for video editing.Couple questions:)1. Will this secondary monitor slow me down (performance)?2. How do I connect the monitor to the iMac? Thunderport? Or do I need to purchase an adapter?
Asked by: Mark M.
No a secondary monitor will not slow down the performance. To connect another monitor you would need a mini display adapter to whichever connection your secondary monitor has.

question

The new Dell 8700 SE desktop comes with an AMD Radeon HD R9 2GB GDDRS video card. More powerful cards are not available pre-installed at Dell. Is this AMD card sufficient to get all this monitor can offer? i.e., 4K and a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz. Will this AMD card allow this? I really don't want to upgrade to a better card. Any advice is appreciated.
Asked by: JOE
The AMD Radeon R9 cards will be able to support a 4k display at 60Hz.

question

Is B&H shipping the A01 version or the A00 (Older) version?
Asked by: Jay H.
I'm very sorry but we cannot confirm what version of the display we have in stock. The displays are stocked and shipped from our B&H shipping warehouse and we do not have physical access to them. If the display is defective in any way you would be able to return it to B&H within 30 days. Be sure to keep all your original packaging, and its contents until you are sure you are keeping the display.
