This is just such a solid piece of equipment. Electrically and acoustically quiet, as other reviewers have mentioned. It isn't under rated from what I can tell - it's an honest 330W/8 ohms, and that's into real world speakers. The only disadvantage to this amp is that it's a bit heavy, but it's still quite a bit lighter than the old solid state amps with similar ratings from the 80's and 90's. If you're doing live sound, I'd probably look at the similarly priced Crown XLS instead, but if you prefer AB instead of D for whatever reason, I don't think this can be beat. For studio work, or upgrading the amp(s) for a home theater or listening room, this would be perfect.

Asked by: Orrin
The Crown Audio XLi 1500 Stereo Power Amplifier could potentially be used in a home theater setup, as it has both SpeakOn and RCA power outputs. However, before choosing a power amplifier it is vital to check the wattage required by the speakers you want to power.

Yes, there are internal cooling fans included with the XLi 1500 that help to prevent the amp from overheating. The fans are fairly quiet, not noisy.

If there is a power outage do you have to press that switch to power the amp back on or does it stay depressed?
Asked by: Shaun
I am sorry but there are no details posted in the product information or specifications regarding whether the power switch would need to be pressed again after a power outage. The Crown Audio XLi 1500 Stereo Power Amplifier does have a circuit breaker with a reset switch on the back panel to protect the amp from a surge. The circuit breaker may activate if there is a power outage and then you would press the reset button and most likely would have to press the power switch again to turn the amp on.
