The Leica L39 Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Pro Lens Mount Adapter from Fotodiox allows a Leica L39-mount lens to be used with a full-frame or APS-C format Sony E-mount camera. It is designed to support infinity focusing, and is constructed with brass to provide a durable, yet lightweight camera-to-lens connection.

This adapter does not support electronic communication between an attached camera and lens. After being placed on the front of the adapter, focus and aperture controls on the lens would continue to be used.

works well but only on about 50% of my lenses

The inner part of this mount is threaded fine for all my lenses, but it has this inner ridge that stops many lenses from screwing all the way in. You can see it in the picture where I marked it in red. None of my Leica/Nicca/Canon/Zorki LTM camera bodies have this inner blocking ridge the mount. I can't figure out why they put this there in this adapter. As another reviewer noted it seems like about half the lenses from the LTM era will run into this issue. Some of them just can't quite make infinity, others can barely get 1 meter.

i think i just grabbed the cheapest one. however this adapter is much more leica-ish than the micro4/3 adapters of eight years ago. lens doesn't rock around in the body even when using an old fed (russian) lens.

Works with some 39mm mount lenses but not all

Initially I was happy with the adapter. The price was good and it worked with the first 3 screw mount lenses I tried. Then I delved deeper into my collection of 39mm lenses and started to encounter problems. I think it's due to the adapter threads not being cut smoothly or deeply enough. My Canon 50/1.2 will give me infinity but getting the lens fully seated in order to do that takes much more force than it should. A Russar 20/5.6 wouldn't even get close. Same with a 50/3.5 Elmar, 35/3.5 Summaron and a 50/2.0 Summicron. So far it's batting less than 500 so I clearly have to buy another adapter. I suspect there are minor thread variations from lens-to-lens and adapter-to-adapter. aybe getting consistency and fit for all lenses will justify the 10x cost of a Novoflex. Haven't decided yet.

Tried this mount with 2 different m39 lenses a 50mm and an 85mm,� could not achieve infinity focus with either lens. Then bought the Fotasy Brass Leica M39 LTM 39MM Lens to Sony E-Mount and was able to achieve infinity focus with that mount and it was $10 cheaper.

I have a Voigtlander 12mm F5.6 first version L39 Mount. I try 5 or 6 different L39 to sony E-mount adapters from ebay, all of then never do infinity focus of my 12mm�Voigtlander . some of them on infinity just focus are just focusing less then ten feet area. this adapter focus beyond 100feet at infinty, but not quit infinity. hyper focus will cover it to everything sharp anyway. but still the best one I can found now. also not too�tight to fit in my Sony A7R, A7RIII. some ebay adapter was over tight, I was worry some adapter may damage my cameras too.

Mounts lenses ok but the threading is off, so the lens is about 90 degrees too far counter clockwise making it impossible to read the focus and aperture scales from the top of the camera.

I purchased this adapter to use with a Sony A7ii and two Voigtlander lenses, a 35mm f2.5 and a 50mm f1.5, and the adapter fits properly and produces great photos with these two sharp primes.

Will this work to pair an old Canon Serenar 50mm 1.8 from an old RF with the A7 ?

No this adapter will not mount any Canon lens onto a Sony E mount camera. It will only work with lenses that are made to mount on Leica bodies so those are Leica lenses or Carl Zeiss lenses with the Leica mount.
