I have been using it for years with no issues. I wish CB would make a bracket that managed to get the flash as close to the lens as this one without having to use a vertical grip.

Can it easily switch between horizontal and vertical shots? Without having to unscrew anything?

The Custom Brackets CB Mini-RC Camera Flash Bracket does not rotate. The flash stays fixed to the camera in the same orientation it is in relation to the camera. For vertical shots, you would just turn the camera and flash together on their side. Custom Brackets does make other brackets that allow the camera and flash to rotate independently of each other.

I shoot with the Sony a7III + 24-70m GM, do I need to a battery grip to use this flash bracket?

You can mount your camera without a grip on this bracket. It is a product geared to event photographers and they prefer using a grip for the vertical controls and long battery life. But it is not a requirement to have a grip.

I'd like to attach this to my D750 with battery grip, and then attach the bracket to a tripod, and use it for shooting vertical portraits. Is that possible?
