I shoot with the Sony a7III + 24-70m GM, do I need to a battery grip to use this flash bracket?
You can mount your camera without a grip on this bracket. It is a product geared to event photographers and they prefer using a grip for the vertical controls and long battery life. But it is not a requirement to have a grip.

I'd like to attach this to my D750 with battery ...
I'd like to attach this to my D750 with battery grip, and then attach the bracket to a tripod, and use it for shooting vertical portraits. Is that possible?
I do not want to say it is impossible but it’s clearly not designed to be used that way. I only use it handheld

Has anyone put a small ball & head on the bracket where the hotshoe is? I aim to put a wireless Cactus RF60x, and I think a small Slik Ball & Head would give a better experience.
