I love this item. It's a little heavier than the manfroto, but very sturdy and worth the price reduction of nearly 25% of the Italian counterpart. Now I need to buy more.

Got this as a compact stand that I could take on shoots with a motorcycle. It folds down small enough to fit into a 52l givi topcase along with my camera bag. No more bungie cords needed. It's stable, has a lot of sections that help prevent bending on the skinnier parts, and has a wide base. Only issue is that the section fasteners need to be tightened more than should be necessary to keep the sections from slipping.

How come this stand comes with a 3/8 thread when all the others come with the 1/4 ?

The 7 compact travel stand has a 3/8 thread to accommodate the 3/8 -16 thread on the Westcott Cine frames (use with smaller Flex panels) as it is the stand that is offered in many of the travel friendly Flex kits currently (2018). The reversing Pin insert Michael mentions is available on the 10' and 13' Westcott stands. You would need a 3/8 -16 female to 1/4 -20 adapter to use it as a standard 1/4-20.
