Westcott 1/4-Stop Diffuser Reviews

It's fine (I think).

I thought the fabric would be more opaque. It definitely diffuses light but it's hard to say whether the diffusion would be softer and more uniform if the scrim wasn't as transparent.

Everyone’s favorite Grid

1/4 grid works great, wish it was cheaper but hey, you want it and this is the only way to get it! Wish Wescott or somebody else made a more durable hard case for the system, flown with it three times and looks like it’s been put through a meat grinder

There is a sloppy seam right down the fabric, creating a shadow. Waste of money

Curious when is grid cloth better than plain cloth? Understand the difference but seeking the why. Thanks.
Asked by: Douglas
Grid cloth diffuses the light while making it more directional versus standard diffusion which simply spreads the light as needed.

This is the fabric only. The frame is sold separately. That would be the Westcott Scrim Jim Cine Frame Set (8 x 8'), BH # WE1834 https://bhpho.to/3ztCEZK

question

Whats the difference between normal diffusion and grid cloth diffusion?
Asked by: Diego
Yes the grid cloth has tiny grids (boxes) on it, but in functioning, the grid acts as a focuser for the light. Its almost like a honeycomb grid or eggcrate grid being built into the diiffusion. Though definitely *not* as effective as if you used a designated honeycomb grid.
