Allowing you to diffuse and direct ambient and artificial light sources, this Scrim Jim Cine 1/2-Stop Grid Cloth Diffuser Fabric from Westcott is compatible with 8 x 8' Scrim Jim Cine frames and features a heavy-duty touch fastener lining for quick setup and convenient portability. Constructed from nylon and silk fabrics, this diffusion does not affect the color temperature of light sources and helps to maintain natural-looking skin tones. As part of a modular system, this fabric is an ideal light control tool for a variety of both studio and on-location applications.

This grid cloth diffuser directs and softens light sources for a clean overall light quality. It is ideal for use with large main light sources and when working in bright, sunlit conditions.
Provides a 1/2 stop reduction in light output.
Touch fastener lining permits quick installation and removal from 8 x 8' Scrim Jim Cine frames.

good addition to the Scrim Jim Cine kit. Purchased as a 1/2 stop diffuser for my kit.

I found it ate closer to 1 stop

I have the older and the newer frames. The new frames are super solid. I just used 1/2 Stop Grid on 4x4 frame as a second layer of diff. First layer was a grid cloth flozier on LED lamps in a KinoFlo. It made a nice soft light. The 1/2-stop grid seemed to eat 1 stop of light with or without the flozier.

No, the Westcott Scrim Jim Cine 1/2-Stop Grid Cloth Diffuser Fabric (4 x 4') is not compatible with the original Scrim Jim.

Would these fasten over a Matthews 4x4' frame?

This 4'x4' fabric arrives in a Poly-Bag, but not a carry-case. If you are looking for a bag, we recommend the various Scrim Jim Cine Kit offerings.

HI justin, Westcott has not designated this grid Cloth as "silent." it is a thin and breathable fabric. Based on how it mounts to the frame, they believe noise should be minimal.

Although not considered a silent grid cloth, like any material pulled tight enough, it will be silent. I’ve used this for years on various outdoor video shoots and I’ve never picked up any sound from it.
