The GH3382QD Series 3 Center Ball Head from Gitzo is an Arca-type compatible ball head that is compatible with Mountaineer Series 2 and 3 tripods, has a load capacity of 44.1 lb, an independent panning lock for 360° rotation, and a height of 5". The head weighs 1.7 lb and has a tungsten disulfide coating to help keep the ball movement smooth while it minimizes sticking and slipping. This large ball head I believe is better than the smaller ball heads. I have both from Gitzo. Both work extremely well. But working in the field with the larger ball head seems to be easier and quicker.

Sorry Hector, this is really a clarification on my initial question; while I am sure the knobs stay put when they have been adjusted, I am more so referring to the rubber grips, can these slip off or rotate independently of the knobs in case the knob is being tightened tightly. Do/Can the rubber grips slide?

The rubber grips on the Gitzo GH3382QD Series 3 Center Ball Head will not slip off or rotate unless they are worn out. The head is covered by a 10 year warranty in case that happens.

Is it easy to accidentally knock the friction knob into a looser position? (It looks very exposed.)
