  • Manfrotto 410 3-Way, Geared Pan-and-Tilt Head with 410PL Quick Release Plate

This 410 3-Way, Geared Pan-and-Tilt Head from Manfrotto has a load capacity of 11.0 lb and can be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. It includes an integrated RC4 quick release cam lock and a 410PL Quick Release Plate. RC4 compatible quick release plates such as the 410PL can removed from the head by pulling the cam lock's spring-loaded lever, which also allows the plate to be instantly reattached.

Cameras or accessories that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 or 3/16"-20 mount can be connected to the 410PL Quick Release Plate, which measures 2.5 x 3.3 x 0.5" and has a rubberized, non-slip surface. The head can be rotated 360°, tilted 90° forwards or 30° backwards, as well as 90° sideways for portrait orientation. Each of these three movements function independently of each other and have individual, snap-lock knobs with easy-to-turn, 4-star grips. Turning each snap-lock knob allows the corresponding movement to be rapidly adjusted, and once the knob is released, the adjustment is locked into place. An additional, rubberized knob set within each snap-lock knob allows incremental, geared adjustments, which help to ensure that any device mounted to this 410 3-Way, Geared Pan-and-Tilt Head is precisely positioned relative to the subject.

To further promote fast and repeatable device positioning, this 410 3-Way, Geared Pan-and-Tilt Head also includes dedicated angle scales for each movement that are designed for easy visibility.

Manfrotto 410 Junior reviews

410 3-Way, Geared Pan-and-Tilt Head Kit with 410PL Quick Release Plates is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply amazing! I have been a photographer my whole life, a full-time professional photographer for the last 5 years and I have been building my real estate photography business substantially over the last 10 months. How did I live with out this for so long. Sure if you want to shoot video and need some smooth movement this is about the worst thing you could buy, but that's not why you buy this. If you are shooting architecture or landscapes and you need your lines perfect, a quality geared tripod head makes life a lot easier. Very easy to use, it has incredible build quality and it allows for extremely precise movement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has changed my real estate photography life! I've only been doing real estate photography for a few months now and have started getting to the point of needing more appropriate equipment to speed things up. I'd been using a ball head on my tripod but realized how much time I was wasting trying to constantly get my camera squared and leveled to prevent distortion as much as possible. I bought this thing and from the first house was already saving myself about 10% of the time it used to take me. Being able to easily make minor turning adjustments on the knobs to fine tune it has changed my life. I've also notice that the camera sits more solid on this head and shakes less after being touched, plus stays level better than the other head when moving the tripod from one spot to another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Geard Head For quite a few years I had been using a Manfrotto Light Duty Grip Ballhead with my Manfrotto tripod. While I liked this head a great deal, it was not quite precise enough for macrophotography. It would slip just a bit when you released the grip. The 410 Junior Geared Head is just what I needed, allowing for very precise fine tuning of position. Coupled with a focusing rail I purchased from B&H some years ago, it allows excellent control and placement of the camera for macro work. It's only disadvantage is its weight - it is quite heavy. Nonetheless, i would recommend this head highly

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Had to send it back for repair after 10 months of use. I have to agree with all the great comments about this product in terms of mechanics, functionality and design but I am questioning the quality of its build. After 10 months of mounting my Canon mark 5D Mark 3, the base of the head that attaches to the tripod (and it is not supposed to move) got loose and the head became useless. The camera moved allover the place. I had to spend $60.00 to send the head for diagnostics and still unsure if they would accept the warranty. Perhaps I was it was random that I ended up with a defective one otherwise my rating would be better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great One of the best heads MANFROTTO made for precision work at an economical price, i have them travel with me all the time. it has a good life span of about 10 years with rugged usage. The plate crack at the end of tis life cycle. I recommend this head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Head! This is a great head better than ball heads. You can move one direction at a time without loosing sraight lines. Great for the price plus its super durable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A superb head for still photographers Just a wonderful piece of gear. Smooth gearing and quick to use. Highly recommend it. While it isn't as lightweight as cheap plastic heads, I don't think of it as heavy at all for pro gear. Easily holds any DSLR.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid performance product Bought this to use for solar eclipse photography, as I wanted something easier to transport than telescope, mount, etc. Worked well with 300 mm lens, and I tilted the head so I could use like an equatorial mount. That worked pretty well, allowing single-axis manual tracking. Look forward to using for terrestrial targets, as it should make composing the shots much more efficient. Reason for 4 not 5 stars is that it has more backlash than I would like to see - it was manageable but quite noticeable.
