The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords extensive control over depth of field for using selective focus techniques. The optical design features a pair of aspherical elements, along with one high-refractive index element, which significantly reduces spherical aberrations and distortion for increased clarity and definition for notably sharp image quality. Also, a Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to control lens flare and ghosting in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, benefitting both stills shooting and video recording, this compact prime also incorporates a stepping AF motor for smooth, near-silent autofocus performance. The lens is sharp and can be used for video and 4k.
There are better cine lenses. Most cine lenses are manual and the better ones have de-clicked aperture. So, you can change it smoothly.
It really depends on how you will be showing the video, camera model and what you are shooting.

What is the T-Stop value?
This isnt a specification that Sigma offers for their lenses, at least that I have seen. That being said, looking at third party testing, the max transmission for the lens in terms of TStop would be 3.1.

Is there a lens firmware version higher than 1.1 for the Micro Four Thirds mount? Sigma released a statement that older lenses don't correct the distortion when shooting JPEG; Newer versions should have a yellow sticker on the box. I want to be sure I have the latest version (Mine says 1.1)
There is at least one newer firmware update than 1.1 we were able to find via Sigma's website (v. 1.2). Please contact Sigma for more information on their current or previous updates and if you need any additional technical support.
