Losmandy put together this DM-8 Dovetail Plate Kit for medium-sized 8" aperture Meade OTAs to enable the use of their heavy-duty dovetail system. The two included blocks are designed to match the OTA's circumference curvature with mounting holes spaced to match standard Meade spacing. The blocks easily attach to the 14" long Universal Mounting Plate, which has numerous mounting holes that will correspond to most Meade scopes. This kit comes with all the screws required to mount the blocks onto the OTA and dovetail, with the correct Meade thread sizes.

Will this mount fit a 8 Meade lx-200 ,what some refer to as the classic? The electronics are fried and Ido not wish to repair outdated electronics.I want to remove the tube from the old forks and mount it on a skywatcher eq-6r.The original Meade manual says the tube diameter is 9.1 ,f/10.
The dovetail plate should fit the OTA. The Skywatcher EQ6R is rated at 44lb capacity, which in theory should be sufficient to hold a Meade 12 SCT OTA, but it will be pushing its limit. A better choice is Losmandy G11, which is rated for 60 lbs. Another issue with the EQ6R is the short saddle. Even though it fits V style as well as D style dovetail plates, it may not be the safest option. You may want to look into buying an aftermarket saddle from ADM which is longer and stronger.
