Yongnuo YN300 III Overview

The 300-IIIW LED On-Camera Video Light is one of a series of on-camera LED lights from Yongnuo Digital. This compact unit features a 5500K output and offers two dimming modes (rough and fine), an IR remote control, barndoors, a power-on/luminance adjustment knob, and two filters. The 300-IIIW also features Bluetooth-based smartphone remote control (via the downloadable app), which allows you to independently control up to eight fixtures or group of fixtures.

Designed to work with most DSLRs and small camcorders, the 300-IIIW LED On-Camera Light can be powered using Sony NP-F series batteries or via an AC adapter (not included). A push-button numerical LED display shows the remaining battery power. A 5200mAh NP-F750 battery (not included) will power the light for up to 120 minutes. The 300-IIIW has three mounting options: to your camera via the hot shoe, onto a flat surface using the mini-plate, or handheld using the included handle.

300 daylight-balanced (5500K) LEDs.
Barndoors, two filters, remote control, and handle are included.
Power using a Sony NP-F series battery or via an optional AC adapter (not included).
Eight-channel IR remote control and smartphone RC work up to 49' away.
Up to 120 minutes of runtime when using a 5200mAh NP-F750 battery (not included).
Push button for remaining battery charge LED display.
Dimmer adjusts in 10% increments in Coarse Mode, and 1% increments in Fine Mode. This allows you to quickly reach a dimming percentage (e.g. 50%), then fine tune it up or down from there.
Mount directly to a camera via the hot shoe, or use the mini-plate mount on flat surfaces.
Power/luminance adjustment knob.
The barndoors feature built-in intensifiers.

This light can be powered via Sony NP-F series batteries or an optional AC adapter. Neither of these are included in the box, but there are plenty of options on the B&H website. For example: AC Power Supply: https://bhpho.to/3jmevww Watson NP-F770 Battery Kit: https://bhpho.to/3rdi4HU

A battery or power supply is not included with this light. Here are links to both an AC Power Supply and Battery Kit which will work with this light. Power Supply - https://bhpho.to/2sOkTW2 Battery Kit - https://bhpho.to/2kuUtjl

question

Which light is iluminates stronger? the one with variable light or the one with 5500k? and does the orange filter makes it a full warm color temperature?
Asked by: Rafa G.
The 5500K version is brighter at 5500K than the variable color version. At 5500K the variable version uses only half the LEDs. If you want maximum brightness at 5500K, then buy the fixed 5500K version.

A battery is not included with this light. It uses Sony L style batteries. The Watson NP-F770 Battery Kit with Compact AC/DC Charger is a great option to go along with this light for power,B&H # WANPF770CK. https://bhpho.to/2kuUtjl

Has anyone encountered issues with these intermittently not powering on? I was a at a wedding last night and they'd turned on sometimes and wouldn't respond minutes later... obviously, not ideal given the job. The brand of battery was Magolin from Amazon.
Asked by: James
Chances are the issue is either the battery or the connection between the battery and the light. First make sure the batteries are firmly connected to the light. If the connection with the light is secure then we recommend using batteries made by more established brands such as IDX System Technology SL-F50 Lithium-Ion Battery B&H # IDSLF50 MFR # SL-F50 or SWIT S-8972 7.2V, 47Wh Battery with DC Output (Sony L-Series) B&H # SWS8972 MFR # S-8972.

Does the IR remote have a light on/off capability?
Asked by: Thomas
Yes! While not possible to discern in the photo of all of the items included with the Yongnuo YN300III LED On-Camera Light (5600K) (B&H# YOYN300III56), the top-left button on the remote control is used to turn the light off and the top-right button is used to turn the light on.
