Really Right Stuff B2-LR II Overview

This B2-LR-II Lever-Release Clamp from Really Right Stuff is compatible with most Arca-type camera plates, camera bars, and multi-purpose rails. The jaws of the clamp open wide for plates to be top-loaded quickly and easily.

The locking lever release is opened or closed by only using finger force, and once the clamp is locked down onto the plate, it has a holding power of up to 50 lb. At the top of the clamp it features three counter-sunk sockets. The center socket has female 3/8"-16 threads and it accepts metric 6 and 1/4"-20 threaded screws via a bushing adapter when mounting to a ball head stem. Two additional 1/4"-20 threaded holes are spaced 30mm apart from the center socket.

The CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum clamp has a black anodized Type II finish. Index marks are laser-engraved on both sides of the clamp so a position can be repeated reliably. The stainless-steel locking-lever has a low profile, and the lever hugs the side of the clamp very closely, so it is very unlikely to snag onto clothing or something else in the field. The clamp has a built-in bull's-eye spirit level, which keeps your camera leveled in a horizontal plane.

Really Right Stuff B2-LR II Reviews

Worth the $

I have and array of RRS items and they are all top-quality. This is a larger clamp so it'd pair best with at least the size of the BH40 ballhead of theirs, not the smaller one. I use one on my ballhead and another is mated with the my Fanotec gear for my base when doing panoramic stitching. The bubble level is helpful. Lever Release is my personal preference. I've used my other clamp for over 10 years and it's as smooth as ever. I have no doubts about it's ability to support all the weight of my pano-stitching setup with rails, with heavy telephoto lens.

Great Product

Fantastic product. The clamping lever is nice and tight, but doesn't apply too much pressure. Very smooth action. The lever snaps nicely into the partially closed position to allow the plate to slide in the clamp. The bull's eye spirit level is even more precise than the one on my tripod.

Of course,. there are other iterations of this tool. But try this one. The others don't have the secure hold and smoothness when operating it. You'll appreciate the difference and will be glad to have invested a bit more to have this superior product.

Essential piece of kit!

Absolutely essential piece of kit. I've got one on each of my tripods, the monopod, my car window bean bag platform, and the extension I use with my Platypod. Makes it easy to switch from a ball head to gimbal, to nodal slide, or macro rail with the simple flick of a lever. Highly recommend it for stability, positive lock, the ability to move the plate back and forth without losing security by opening the lever half way, and for the sheer convenience. I also detach my gimbal while I hike that way to protect the tripod head from the weight stress of gimbal and camera with lens, and battery grip. Some might think this excessive precaution but at the price of quality carbon fiber tripods, and because of previous experience I take this extra measure and with this clamp it's easy.

Works great on BH-40 ball head

I bought the BH-40 ball head with the panning screw clamp. I later regretted getting that because of the time it took to tighten down the screw. I also regretted it because of how little I used panning vs the size and weight of the clamp. I bought the B2-LR-II clamp to solve both issues. After removing the provided clamp, the B2-LR-II clamp fit on the BH-40 ball head just fine. It works great.

This clamp is just what I wanted. I've attached it to a Vanguard BH-250 ball head and it works perfectly. I couldn't ask for any better. It makes attaching the camera very easy and it is very secure.

Great product as expected

I bought one more after being totally satisfied with the earlier one. It's a game changer for instant changing of tripod heads. I will be using the second one for instantly removing and refitting the camera from my monopod gimbal head to quickly switch over for handheld shooting.

I have not tried on Manfrotto MSQ6PL; but it fits well with my RRS 85L QR lens plate(bought from B&H earlier) for Nikon 200-500mm Telezoom lens as well as Wimberley P40 that i bought earlier. Also fit well with my Really Right Stuff BD500 Base Plate for Nikon D500. The credit goes to B&H customer support staffs whose services are excellent & i got my stuffs with a week of each. Thanks

80mm for bigger, heavier gear like a 4x5 or 8x10 camera. As well as large Pro DSLR cameras with long lenses.

Can this be used on a Gitzo GT2545T tripod?

Can this be used on a Gitzo GT2545T tripod?
Asked by: Thomas
Yes. But just remember that the tripod itself has no way to adjust the angle of the camera if you mount this plate to it directly. In order to level the camera you would need to adjust the legs to get the legs themselves level. Ideally you would get some kind of "head" to mount to the top of the tripod and then you would mount this plate atop of that. That is what I have done. I have my tripod legs, then an Arca Swiss d4 tripod head. Then I have a cheap arca swiss style "plate" that I screw to the bottom of this lever release clamp you are asking about. Finally I attach this plate/clamp combo to the top of the geared Arca Swiss d4 head and am off to the races.
