    Impact DUB-2 reviews

Deluxe Umbrella Mount with Adjustable Shoe is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 523.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultimate flexibility I bought this for my strobist umbrella setup. Three features make this bracket wonderfully versatile: 1. The shoe mount rotates separately from the umbrella, a critical feature missing on some other brackets. It lets me rotate the stobe's receiver to point toward my 7D's built-in transmitter, while still having the flash head point into the umbrella. This increases the distance I can place the flash from the camera - especially useful when shooting outdoors. 2. The umbrella socket is above the joint, allowing the umbrella to be set at any angle. 3. The locking knob (rather than a locking lever) makes it smaller to pack in my strobist kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Among the Best Brackets You Will Own I own several other brackets (Manfrotos) and truthfully I didn't really need another bracket but I found the multi port design intriguing. This makes this bracket unique and highly customizable. I found that this feature helps me hit the sweet spot of my umbrellas with precision. It's also an exceptional value because of the accessories it includes: the cold shoe, the brass connectors and the umbrella holder. The thing I love best about this bracket is its light weight and compact size. Because it matches the usability of my heavier Manfrotos for use with Speed-lights, it has easily become my favorite and most used bracket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value | Functional | Solid Great product that works as advertised and is of a build quality that should last me for several years with no issue. I use this bracket to support my off camera SB-900 as well as my Westcott umbrellas individually or at times in combination. Although I use a RRS insulated hot shoe bracket to mount the SB-900 Speedlight to the bracket, the included adjustable hot shoe provides a nice touch if one needs this device.I will be buying more of these in the future as well as more of the Impact light stands as they also have proven to be a very high quality product for my needs and are very reasonably priced as well....

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad Tilt Adjustment Knob Design I wanted to like this little mount because of it's compact size, price, and that it includes a cold shoe clamp. But the design of the knurled washer for its tilt adjustment is made of soft, molded magnesium that stripped very easily. Slight pressure from a speedlite and 36 umbrella was enough to break the knurled washer, making tilt lock nearly impossible and the mount useless. This might be fine for low-risk studio use, but field use, in any kind of wind, and it won't last more than a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid build I use this bracket with a B&H-ordered Westcott umbrella (Optical White Satin - 32) on a standard light stand for headshots at work from time to time. I use the bracket only occasionally, but it's been reliable so far. It holds my Nikon SB-700 Speedlight securely, and even has an upward-angled umbrella slot that brings the center of the umbrella up towards the center of the flash area. This makes for more even light distribution, because otherwise, your speedlight is firing largely into the top half of the umbrella. The construction is largely metal and the fit is solid all-around. My only critique is that the knobs are plastic and smaller - I'd like a little more surface area to grab hold of and torque down. For the price, it's a no-brainer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and solit bracket I bought this item because I need a fully-articulating bracket to position an Impact umbrella and a flash unit at multiple angles, and the bracket included with the basic Impact lighting kit I previously purchased (B&H #IMBSM) only holds the umbrella at two fixed angles (slighly up and down from horizontal). This is a major step up from the basic bracket, with metal construction and a much more robust flash mount with larger knurled knob that is easier to operate. It's also surprisingly compact compared to the standard bracket, but some users may prefer the larger lever-style knob of the basic bracket to the small wing knobs of this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great so far I haven't had this umbrella bracket very long, so have only used it on a few shoots, but it seems great so far. I believe anyone who complained about their flash not being aimed at the center of the umbrella may not have realized that the umbrella mount hole is angled and meant to be used in a specific direction. Everything tightens down nicely so far and I'm hopeful it will stay that way. My biggest worry is the flash mount bracket as it certainly doesn't give you that secure feeling, so I worry every time about my $500 flash (or heck, my $50 flash), not to mention the wireless flash trigger, just sliding off and hitting the ground from 9' up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Bracket I bought this to hold my speedlight on a lightstand. The umbrella bracket has done well so far. My only concern is the shoe mount that attaches to the stud comes loose very easily. Since the threaded screw that attachs the stud to the shoe mount is very short I would recommend checking to ensure it's tight especially if you move around your lightstand frequently. I had seen other comments about the cold shoe not holding the speedlights very well. I use a Canon 580EX II and have had no issues with the shoe mount gripping the speedlight. This bracket is very versatile, works well, and is very well priced.
