This Base Plate for Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II from Really Right Stuff is designed specifically for this camera. With this base plate's anti-twist flanges and 1/4"-20 mounting screw, it creates a snug fit against the body. Once the dovetail plate is on, quick release functionality has been added to the camera. Also, this base plate is compatible with all of Really Right Stuff clamps and most other Arca-type heads.

The CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum plate maintains complete access to the battery door without any obstruction to the tilting LCD monitor of the camera. An option for an L-component is available that will fit the plate's modular design and make a custom-fit L-plate. In addition, a boss has been machined into the side of the plate so an accessory hand or shoulder strap can loop through and carry the camera.

The plate itself is resistant to scuffs and scratches because of the type II black anodizing the plate has gone through; furthermore, the base plate has a laser engraved center mark on the back to align it on a head.

Base Plate for Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Work of Art In Its Own Right The RRS Base Plate for the E-M1 II is easily the best of the many (usually RRS) Arca-compatible plates I have purchased for various cameras. The fit and finish is perfect, the Allen wrench lives in the plate, there's an attachment lug and perfectly placed tripod screw hole. It won't leave the camera. What IS puzzling is the $100 additional cost of the L component. Seems like a bit of price gouging by RRS. I DIDN'T purchase this, because the design of the one for the original E-M1 made it essentially unusable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great improvement for E-M1 Mii handling Very well made. I have large hands so the plate allows me to also use my little finger to hold the camera - without the plate I can only use three fingers. With four fingers on the camera it is easier to use the two programmable buttons on the front of the camera with my middle and ring fingers. The plate supports my Arca-style tripod mount and has a small bar to use with my Peak Designs strap clip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It really is right for this camera. while I have average sized hands the EM1 Mark II bottom didn't extend quite far enough to be really comfortable. The RRS base plate added just enough extra to make holding the camera feel just right. it becomes an integral part of the camera. It also relocates the tripod socket to the exact center of the baseplate. The allen wrench used to attach the base is magnetized and fits tightly into a recession in the RRR base itself, a nice added feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enhances handling Not only does this provide an Area Swiss compatible mounting plate, it adds about 1/2" of vertical height and a small bit of weight to the base. It is beautifully shaped with rounded edges unlike inexpensive alternatives. I prefer using this at all times. I must say that I think the vertical plate sold as an L-bracket package is unrealistic in its pricing. But the base plate itself is worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Safely attach a wrist strap This plate not only provides an Arca quick release plate, but provides a much more certain means of attaching a wrist carry strap. I had one for my original OMD E-M1 and found it very useful, so I immediately ordered one for my new Mark II camera. Only down side is the price, like all Really Right Stuff gear, so I gave it 4 stars. Great piece of gear. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adds more grip and heft to EM1 MkII This base plate adds just enough grip area, making for a more positive hold on the EM1 in my hands. The extra weight of the base plate also helps balance the Olympus 40-150 f2.8 lens and teleconverter. You also know that once tightened into place the plate is not going to slip or turn. A great way to quickly attach the camera to an Arca-Swiss style ball head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best option for arca mount users This plate fits like a glove and provides a sable base to set your camera down on a flat surface. It allows access to the battery compartment and provides a hand strap lug which i use to attach a Peak Design camera strap anchor link. i did not purchase the L-bracket version as the L part inhibits the use of the articulating screen on the camera

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never comes off my body, even handheld Aside from being beautifully made, very light, and easy to use, this base plate extends the grip by a half-inch, which is enough to allow me an extra finger. This lets me hald-hold heavier lenses, especially when I add the GS-5 grip strap. Worthwhile, even if you never use a tripod.
