For areas for inconsistent power grids, Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) helps provide stability against voltage fluctuations, overvoltages, and brownouts. This UPS has an integrated LCD display that shows information on the utility and system status, and PowerChute Personal Edition software can help track power quality, configure alarms, and shutdown your computer during an outage.

When compared to the previous generation of APC's Back-UPS systems, this model features a more compact design with a smaller footprint, surge protection improvements, and improved 1Gb dataline protection. Also featured is a limited lifetime data-recovery warranty and a limited 3-year warranty for the APC unit.

Hello, Since this unit is Simulated Sine Wave ...

Hello, Since this unit is Simulated Sine Wave will it be able to power my G Tech External Hard Drives for about 10 minutes? That is of course depending on how many hard drives I have connected. Usually 3-5. Or will I need a Pure Sine Wave unit? Also I reside in the Philippines and the Voltage here is 220 Volts. Can I connect this unit to a Voltage Reducer? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You. John
Asked by: John
I back up G Tech external RAID systems, and many other digital electronics, with this specific APC unit and have never seen problems. The runtime on battery will depend on the entire load. You can run a 120V UPS from a 220V main for 120V loads with a permanently-connected and properly-sized (big, heavy) step-down transformer, but other voltage reducers are not going to work.

I plan on mounting the APC battery inside a Pelican case -- does the APC need airflow around it and can it be safely used while on it's side? Any heating issues while it's in use?
Asked by: codi
The heat generation from these units is negligible once the battery is fully charged. I have used one unit on is's side on the lowest shelf of an 18"x18"x48", enclosed/fan ventilated, media cabinet for over two years without a problem.
