Would this work if I attached the flange mount to ...

Would this work if I attached the flange mount to the wall? Or are the joints going to be incompatible with that 90 degree orientation change?

So this arm can obviously mount to a desk but I've just recently mounted it to a 2"x6" ceiling joist. With the base at a 90-degree angle, you can then attach the boom and use the set-screw on the base to tighten the boom into place. There is a downside to doing this as it removes the ability to pivot the boom (though the scissor action continues to operate). If the flange mount also has a set screw, then it should be possible as well.

Yes this will work with a blue yeti it has the same 5/8 tread to connect and it can hold the weight of the Yeti as well.

The boom arm is stiff by default, Is it possible to adjust the tension?

There is no tension adjustment. I have to put some muscle into moving the arm either up and down or forward and backward. It supports a lot of weight without sagging. Make sure to keep your fingers out of the space between the twin support rods.

The quality of this studio boom arm would be similar to the Rode PSA1 Studio Boom Arm for Broadcast Microphones, BH #ROPSA1, but it has a shorter reach of 28-inches fully extended.

I want to make sure this is tall enough to reach over my monitor, I appears in the photo the section from the clamp to the elbow is equal in length to the section from the mic to the elbow, so is each section 28 inches in length or is it 28 inches from desk to mic measuring both sections together?

Each section from pivot to pivot is 14". Using the bolt-on mount on my desk, clearance measures 16.5" when the top arm is horizontal. Clearing under the book arm goes up to around 18, 18.5" (vertical at mid-boom) when you angle it up about 20 degrees. You could angle higher, but then mic proximity comes into the equation.

Yes, the Samson Meteor Mic can be mounted on the MBA28 Microphone Boom Arm. The thread size on the mic is 5/8" which is the same as the thread on the MBA28.

Does the joint at the mic maintain it's angle as you move the boom arm? Or do you have to reposition the mic each time the boom arm is moved?

The action of the spring inside the arm maintains a proportionate angle between the bottom and middle joints. Due to the nature of the spring-loaded arm, the joints do not naturally move independently of each other. It is however possible to keep the arm steady during adjustment without too much difficulty, and each joint can be manually adjusted if the opposite section is held in place with your other hand.
