  • 1Description

Dedicated to the Nikon D850 DSLR, the MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack offers both enhanced handling capabilities as well as extended battery life. It accepts one additional EN-EL15 lithium-ion battery pack to increase the camera's battery life or, alternatively, eight AA batteries can be used in conjunction with the included MS-D12 AA Battery Holder. Alternatively, an EN-EL18a/b battery can also be used in conjunction with an optional BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover in order to achieve a faster 9 fps shooting rate as well as an approximate battery life of 5140 shots per charge. The physical design of the grip improves shooting in the vertical orientation with the inclusion of a secondary shutter release button, AE/AF lock button, multi selector, and main- and sub-command dials.

    MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battery Pack Grip I like this grip. I have always bought the OEM accessories for my Nikon cameras. I go back to the Nikon F2 days. If you ever turn your camera vertical for a shot the grip is a must. The extra battery is great too. Especially now you can use the en-el18 battery. You will need the adapter end cap for this grip. The cost is around $25.00 for this Nikon part. My thoughts if your buying a $3,300.00 camera why buy a third party knock off accessories that may have fit, or performance problems. I only have two cons 1) Pricing, 2) The attaching wheel is small making it a little harder to install, and remove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have adapter I have only owned the 3rd party grips for my D90, D7000 & D750. However buying the D850, I went ahead and invested in the MB-D18. I can tell you there is a major difference in the flex of the products. Comparing to the grip on my D750 if felt as if there was some flex when holding the grip only. Now the MB-D18 there is absolutely no flex in the grip, at all. I've tested the flex with the 70-200 lens attached, hold the camera by only the grip, no flexing! Now, I bought the 3rd party battery, charger & door for another $100.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Appears to be well made. Everything working well so far. Haven't had the MB-D18 very long, but so far all is good. Everything fits well. Not as tight or snug as having the function built in like on my D5, but is probably as good as it gets for an "attachment". The instructions are pretty bare.. Just a parts lists really. Just remember that you want to take off the little rubber contact cover on the base of your 850 first. There is a an indentation on the top of the grip to store it before attaching to your camera. Grip come with battery holders for 8 AA cells or one EN-EL15 or EN-EL15a. Both my OEM Nikon and aftermarket batteries seem to work fine with the grip. I'm planning on using my D5 batteries, but am waiting for the BL-5 chamber cover. I can't test the frame rate, etc. using the EN-EL18 battery until I receive the BL-5 cover. No reason to think it won't work fine. I like the fact that you don't need to keep a battery in the camera. You can use just the battery in the grip. It will allow you to use both the in-camera battery and the grip battery if you want to (setup in the camera menu). All the controls seem to work as they should. Back Button AF, Function button, shutter release, AE/AF button, command dials, on/off, etc. Seems to be made primarily of polycarbonate/plastic, but feels solid. Overall, I'm pleased so far. Time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not A Light Weight I originally had a Vello grip on one of my D810's and though it appeared to be fine functionally, it simply did not have the feel of the Nikon grips I had on my other D810 and D7200's. Needless to say, the Vello was soon replaced with a Nikon. As for the MB-D18, I have absolutely no complaints at this point. I have mine paired up with a BL-5 and EN-EL18 battery so I get that extra burst of speed out of the D850 when photographing wildlife in action. If you're going to pay through the nose for a D850, why not go for the same quality when adding a grip?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Improvement from D800 Grip The total handling of the D850 with the MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack attached is awesome! The D800's with the Nikon MB-D12 Multi-Power Battery Pack is not as comfortable to hold and use as theD850 with the Nikon MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack. So, I think the newMB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack for the D850 is a major improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very solid This guy is heavy and solid...with the big battery, it is really, really heavy! For the most part, I find the extra weight helps reduce camera shake, but it takes some of the fun out of lugging it around in your camera bag :) Switches and buttons are quality. All in all, I have to say it is just what I needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OEMNikon quality Like all other OEM Nikon grips. It is very well made, and costs more than it should. But you're putting it on a professional grade body and the grip should be strong&fit & function perfectly, and this one does. The grip fits super snug, as does the grip on the D500. These fit much better than the previous generationD800/D810 grip. It does everything it says it does in terms of batteries, no need to repeat it here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and forever Shoots 9 fps and thousands of photos with el18 battery and BL5 door. Pricey but it works and none of the knock-offs will perform like this.
