Dedicated to the Nikon D850 DSLR, the MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack offers both enhanced handling capabilities as well as extended battery life. It accepts one additional EN-EL15 lithium-ion battery pack to increase the camera's battery life or, alternatively, eight AA batteries can be used in conjunction with the included MS-D12 AA Battery Holder. An EN-EL18a/b/c battery can also be used in conjunction with an optional BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover in order to achieve a faster 9 fps shooting rate as well as an approximate battery life of 5140 shots per charge. The physical design of the grip improves shooting in the vertical orientation with the inclusion of a secondary shutter release button, AE/AF lock button, multi selector, plus main- and sub-command dials.

Works with EN-EL18D
This grip is the best add-on grip I've ever used. It adds a lot of functionality and with the right batteries almost doubles the FPS. FYI, this grip works with the EN-EL18D battery designed for the Nikon Z9, which is the highest capacity battery available right now in the EL18 series. You end up with 32% more power and 26g/1oz more weight. The extra charge is great. Regarding the extra weight, you can definitely feel it during longer shoots if you're used to the 18c batteries. But initially it's fine.
Works like a charm, BUT
I had zero doubt I was going to buy this Nikon accessory over a 3rd party battery pack. That was never an issue, The issue I have is Nikon forces you to purchase some incidentals that work with this, including their USB cable. 3rd party cables will not work with their charger, only Nikon cables, which of course cost more. The battery pack excels when shooting, there's no doubt there, just the smaller things matter. Either way, I am a Nikon and Nikkor only user, so I ate the cost. Either way, I am very happy with the product.
