Having been retired for several years, I am enjoying my D850’s even more with long lenses and bird photos. I bought the optional grip years ago and shot lots of airshows. I purchased two batteries at the time for max fps and one of them no longer charges fully. Time to get a new backup. The “c” version received is what was needed. Of course they are more pricey these days but I prefer Nikon batteries. Call to B&H Service was very helpful. Probably the last one I’ll need at my age. It also worked well that my daughter gave me a B&H gift card to cover most of the cost!

I bought a Nikon D850 with the OEM battery grip. I wanted to achieve the advertised 9fps with an EN-EL18 battery. Up until now I had bought 3rd party batteries and expected they would power the same results. They didn't. Not far behind, but they didn't. So, I purchased a genuine Nikon battery. It does produce 9fps. If you're wondering if you can skimp by using a brand other than the Nikon product you cannot. I already had the Nikon charger from eBay so that was already in place. The same with the BL-5 cover. At one time there were issues with a certain batch of these particular batteries, so I was a bit anxious until I saw this battery charge to full. I'm sure that if I had encountered a problem that B&H would have arranged an exchange or a refund without worry.

D500 & D850 compatibility. Is the "c" version ...

D500 & D850 compatibility. Is the "c" version compatible? Neither are recognized and blink BP on both of my bodies but the camera still works. Do these bodies only work with the "b" version of this battery?

How does one connect the BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover to the EN-EL18c battery? If there is a diagram or modification schematic, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Look at your battery and you will see two square tabs sticking out on one end. Now look at the BL-5, you will see two squared shaped slots. The two tabs on the battery insert into the slots on the BL-5. It will only fit one way, if it doesn't fit, turn the battery over. It's very simple. The green tab on the BL-5 is the release to separate the battery from the BL-5, just push the green tab in the direction the arrow indicates.

Does the Nikon EN-EL 18c battery + the BL-5 Battery Charger Cover for the MB-12 Battery Grip + D810 still only shoot 5 FPS?

If you are shooting full-frame with FX lenses, the maximum frame rate would be 5 frames per second. If you are shooting in DX Auto-Crop Mode, the standard maximum frame rate is 6 frames per second, but you can reach 7 frames per second when using the optional Nikon MB-D12 Battery Pack and the Nikon EN-EL18c Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery and Nikon BL-5 Cover.

No, you need the MH-26a charger (or third-party equivalent) to charge a EN-EL18c.

Is my Nikon MH-26a charger the correct one for the EN-EL18c battery? I can't get my new battery to charge the charger shows Calibration. I left it on overnight and no charge.

Yes, the MH26A is the correct charger. Make sure the battery is seated properly in the charger.

I am confuse with these a b c batteries...for D850 9 frames per second....nikon says Nikon EN-EL18b.....I notice B&H does not have that B battery....but is selling Nikon EN-EL18C.....will the Nikon EN-EL18C battery give me 9 frames per second with the VELLO D850 battery grip and BL-5 battery cover? I am planning to buy the Vello battery grip for D850, Nikon EN-EL18c, + BL-5 kit, and the Watson battery charger from B&H.....WILL THIS GIVE ME 9 frames per second on my D850? Thanks much

The 18C is the latest version of this battery, it replaces the 18b.

Will my MH-26 battery charger (SN 120701455) that came with my D4 camera properly charge the newer EN-EL18C batteries? The EN-EL18 battery that came with the camera is an 10.8V/2Ah battery. The EN-EL-18C is rated for 10.8V/2.5Ah. The extra 500mAh would be nice but my current charger needs to be able to fully charge the battery.
