I bought this lens for the sony a6500. In the manual it says that at all times both the camera and the lens should be held. Given that this is a lens for full-frame cameras how do I use this with a tripod? Is there a piece I should buy inorder to use this lens and a tripod at the same time?
If the camera is securely mounted to a tripod, you do not need to support the lens separately.

If you are looking for full-frame extension tubes compatible for use with Sony FE-mount lenses, the Kenko DG Extension Tube Set for Full-Frame Sony E-Mount, B&H # KEEXTUBEDG, or the Vello Deluxe Auto Focus Extension Tube Set for Sony E Mount, B&H # VEEXTSFED, would work for your usage needs. As with all extension tubes, do note that you will lose infinity focus when connecting an extension tube to the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS Lens. However, it should reduce your minimum focus distance and increase your magnification for macro photography. Both options listed above would retain autofocus, automatic exposure, automatic metering, and Optical Steady Shot image stabilization capabilities (though you may still wish to focus manually for macro photography needs).
