Even tho this is intended for lenses that lack an aperture setting ring, I use it on older lenses that do have a ring. The advantage is that I dont have to count clicks or see the scale to stop down after each time I focus. I just use the adapters control ring to open or close to the set aperture, same as on an old non-auto-iris preset lens.
