FotodioX MD-SNYE Reviews
Cannot remove lens from FotodioX Mount Adapter
I have an older manual focus Minolta 58mm f1.2 lens that I wanted to try on my Sony A7RV camera. After researching different adapters and discussing it by phone with a B&H salesman I settled on checking out the Fotodiox Minolta SR/MD/MC-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount camera adapter. I went to B&H and mentioned to the salesman that I had seen in the reviews of the adapter that someone had mentioned that they had a problem with removing the lens from the adapter. He told me that it probably was because they weren't doing it correctly. I tried the adapter in the store and mounted my old Minolta lens on it and it worked well in the store, and I was able to easily remove the lens from the adapter, so I bought the mount adapter. A few weeks later I used the adapter with my Minolta lens and to my dismay I could not disconnect the lens from the adapter. I do not live anywhere near B&H in NYC, so I called B&H and spoke to a salesperson who advised me to do a chat with the help desk. Stephen M from the help desk and I worked through the problem and determined that there is a spring steel tab inside the adapter that was hitting one of the lugs on the lens bayonet mount and not allowing the lens to rotate enough to disengage from the adapter. Stephen had me use a plastic tool to push the spring steel tab away enough to allow me to turn the lens enough to remove it from the adapter. Afterwards, Stephen advised me to return the adapter to B&H and try another brand.
Wouldn't let go.
This thing held my lens loosely and then refused to disconnect from the lens when it was released. Definitely can't recommend after I had to bend a spring to release it.
