Benro Tripster Travel 2 Series Tripod Reviews
Smooth Operator
Purchased two years ago. Used numerous times although I consider it lightly used. Works smoothly as new. Not quite as stable as a regular tripod that doesn't have legs that invert when folding for extra compactness. But it's within my expectations.
Benro Is Good
I have an older Benro which still operates fine, but I wanted a tripod that was shorter when folded up and this model fit the bill. This is my first tripod with twist lock legs. All my other tripods have the flip levers. Either style seems to work well. Ive only used this tripod out in the field once and I (and all reviewers) probably should hold off on a review until after at least numerous uses. This tripod (and my other Benro) has leg locks that you have to pull out to move the legs to a different angle and then push the lock back in to secure the leg in the new position. And that was fine...until I played with a friends Oben tripod that has spring loaded leg lock levers. Just a thumb to release and that is all. There may be durability issues with that style and that maybe why Benro doesnt do that. My old Benro tripod came with a substantial carry bag that is almost the quality of a camera bag. It keeps its form and I get the feeling theres real protection there. This time the bag is a simple vinyl dust draw string bag. Itll chafe away in spots in no time. And theres no zipper interior pocket to hold the wrench, allen wrench and the other feet. And I question whether a larger ball head would fit in the bag in the event that I change heads. My old Benro came with a wrench to tighten/loosen the spike feet. No wrench with this model. Fortunately, I have the wrench. My old Benro has an eye to attach (your own) shoulder strap. No eye on this model. Also, with this new tripod, I didnt get the snap on tool holder that snaps onto one of the legs. The tripod works smoothly enough and think that it works as it should. The ballhead seems substantial enough with my full frame mirrorless with my 70-200 f4. This tripod came with a quick release plate which is good because it is not Arca Swiss compatible.
Bought for a trip I havent taken yet, but.....
This seems like it will fit the bill nicely. Ive played with it at home a bit, and it seems to check all the boxes. It extends high enough that I dont have to slouch (Im 6 1). Its nice and light. It folds down to fit into my backpack. Setup seems pretty quick. With the hook to hang a bag (or some kind of weight) on the center column it should be sturdy enough.
Happy
Nice addition to my tripod family. The folded size is perfect for packing/hiking/carrying (which is what I was looking for), the extended size is a perfect height for me (Im 54), and the ball head works great--no creep. So far, I havent had any issues with stability and it easily supports a d750 with a 24-70 or 105mm lens. And although I have yet to use it, I love the option of having a monopod should I need one.
Outstanding!
I already own the TMA27C along with the V2E Triple Action Ball Head and they are absolutely solid together, but at an approximately folded length of 28 tall I need a smaller option for long hikes and travel. This Benro is perfect, small and very solid (the lower legs are not those flimsy little legs you find at the 5 section travel tripods out there). This tripod is lightweight and sturdy plus it looks great.
Just what I was looking for
I have a couple of hefty tripods, but I was looking for something small I could use around the house, something that would fold up small so I could just throw it in the car and not worry about taking up a lot of space. But I also wanted it to be sturdy and have a decent head and an Arca style mount. This fits the bill perfectly. Glad I got it.
Great Tri-Pod
Easy to use, light weight and sturdy.
