RODE LAVHS-LRG Overview

The large LAVHS-LRG Headset Mount for Lavalier Microphones from Rode is an ergonomic headset-style wearable mount that offers increased versatility for users of the Rode Lavalier and smartLav+ lapel microphones (sold separately). It can be used to wear the optional microphone near the mouth for optimal audio performance in speech and presentation applications.

The mount is engineered from spring steel that has been plated for durability and is designed to hold its shape throughout the rigors of repeated use. Also, integrated cable management is built-in at the rear of the mount to ensure the microphone cable is tightly secured.

Oftentimes the most simple devices provide the best results! I use this with the RODE Filmmaker wireless lav kit. For presenters and audio engineers alike, the addition of this unobtrusive headset provides a more personal sound, less background noise and reduced potential for feedback. I highly recommend this lav mount!

Any reason why this wouldn't work with the Saramonic Blink lav mics?

Technically they should work with this headset adapter, however since the capsules of the Saramonic are bigger than the intended Rode mics, we could not guarantee how well it would hold up the mics.

Can I use other lav mics beside Rode with this headset? I have two Shure MX185s that I'd love to pair w/this unit. Thanks.

Due to the difference in the size of the MX185 capsule from the Rode Lavalier mic and Smartlav+, it seems that the Rode LAVHS-LRG Headset Mount would not support the MX185 capsule.

Can one bend the front wire to achieve certain mic positions near the mouth? If not, then the mic needs to be omni?

Yes, the boom arm for the microphone on the RODE Headset Mount for Lavalier Microphones is bendable, so you can adjust the position to bring the mic closer to the mouth. Each of the photos of the headset mount that we have posted shows the boom arm in a different position.

Would this work with the Sanken COS 11D? The Sennheiser MKE 2? What is the diameter of the mic grip?

The RODE LAVHS-LRG Headset Mount for Lavalier Microphones (Large) is fully compatible with the Sanken COS 11D and Sennheiser MKE 2 lavalier microphones. The actual cable clips can clamp wire up to 1" in thickness. And the microphone clip can hold lavaliers up to 0.05" in diameter.
